Default Speed Detectors

I know this has probably been done to its death now, but not searching thru 1000's of pages.

I want to go and buy one today..

But it HAS TO pick up those fooking mobile vans
Also, all camera's ie Truvlo's and stuff..

I assume a GPS one is needed, and wouldnt mind it to have a jammer on too just incase but not essential..

Before I get greif.. I dont o around speeding etc, but occasionally daydream and may be 5 or 6 mph over the limit which is probably enough to get 3 of the finest

thanks

Your being shunned now cos of yesterday!

Ref. the detector tho mate, my mates just put one in his Mini but I don't think it picks up on mobile Guns etc

His was from Makro, cost him about Ł170.00, try looking at a Road Angel or something, I think there pretty good

ones that pickup vans and guns will be made illegal so you might as well get one that is only passive rather than active

Andy - fair comment, but nothing has been decided on that front, so still want one that can pick up those vans

Snooper S4, under Ł300. Does all you want.
Road Angel or Origin b2 or Micro Road Pilot, more money but have a gps speedo readout too!

Personally think Micro Road Pilot looks the best!! Pic here: http://www.incarexpress.co.uk/view_p...partno=MICRORP

thanks lads and Dan

To be honest, those Snoopers look abit bulky.. got a tom tom sat on the windscreen, so wont be able to see out of it soon

The Raod Angel is looking favourable.. any one got experience of these please?

Also, doesnt state about laser jammer.. is this an addition?

non of em will pick up camera vans at all !!!!!!

the road angel 2 is ok and has the best display BUT dont have a finction like the snooper S4 that allows ya to set the alerts to general roads or motorways meaning when ya flying down the M6 toll road the road angel will cry "fixwd saftey camera" as theres a road near in the same direction with a speed camera but the snooper when set for motorway use will ignore the general road ones

also when ya slow down to lower than 60 it reminds ya that its set to motorway and ask if ya want it set back to normal

i got rid of my road angel and got the snooper S4 , its also allows you to pay a few quid a month direct debit rather than pay the 50 quid per year so if it breaks or ya loose it ya cancel the subscription, the road angel ya payed ya cash

ask max about his road angel to test and the next meet ill brign em snooper and ya can compare em

Westy, the revised RoadAngel 2 now has an integrated Laser detector.

See here for info:

http://www.blackspot.com/

Jammers are a seperate item that you have to mount inside your front grill or surrounding area. If caught with a jammer you could be in big trouble so be sure to fit an on/off switch out of view.

Ive never had false alarms Ginge, and i think you will find the false alarms are from the units that detect "radar" and thus warn you of impending spar automatic doors and pedestrian crossings every 30 seconds....

stu the snooper and the road angel have different frequencys built in BUT they do fale alarms from things on the motorway, spadge told me about it but cant remember what they was, i got that on the M6 and the M1 as well as some parts of the A1

its not the tescos thing though

also the laser thing is shite anyway and if ya got a issue ya can get a bolt on bit like the S6R comes with but again its pointlessm, the GPS fixed camera system is what is needed, specs.truvelo ect which they both do

but i like my snooper as hate the road angel 2 that i had

the snooper is also cheeper

Ginge, with all due respect, i do 15,000 miles per year, every year, and my S4 in MY car has NEVER falsed. You will find, that its down to operator error, not selecting motorway when your on a motorway for example. In that instance, it can warn you of 30mph limits you are flying by at 70mph, but when the voice says "Warning, speed limit 30mph" you can be pretty sure what the score is

i was talking about the laser alert ONLY !!!!!, ive never had any other flase alarms on the GPS based system

you are right about the motorway thing and thats WHY i got the snooper as the road angel couldnt do that setting and would false alarm on a motorway as it detected a speed camera on a non motorway road

also the road angle dont tell ya the speed for that road too, it just calls out "fixed saftey camera" hence why i never liked it

but the "warning laser laser" does still happen BUT come to think of it ive never had it happen with my snopper

that was my road angel that almost killed me with that alert ( ok my harsh breaking from 130ish )

hence why i always recomend the snooper S4

Ok lets sort this out cos I aint got a clue what you lot recommend!

1) Do ANY speed detector's pick up the Mobile Vans with the Sneaky Coonts in the back of them?

2) If yes to the above, does the S4 pick up the sneaky coonts in the vans aswell?

Thank you , Seriously I don't know!

no non of em pick up the sneeky fookers in vans, they might go off when ya been done if its the right laser but thats pointless anyway

but you can store known locations of the mobile talivans for future reference, the gps ones will pick up the temp mobile fixed sites aslong as its on the update, the ones like at road works ect

also tells ya off the specs cameras including the one on the M1/M25 junction

So what your saying is youve never had the S4 false either Ginge?
