Phew, XRCool is fixed now!!
Phew, well we are all done now, big thanks to my mate Baz for helpin out, actually he did most of the taking apart, but we both did the bolting back together. :drivin:
So how did the day go, well.... first off we tried to take the wheels off, but the locking nut key was fooked, so couldn't take them off.
So we had to remove the driveshafts without taking the wheels off. Managed it but it was a bit of a fiddle.
So after disconnecting everything we got the gearbox off and it was no wonder the clutch went!!!
Some pictures of the old parts with the new ones.
Totally FUBARed release bearing! Note the missing bearing which if you look carefully have actually melted into little blobs you can see among the other bearings! The new one is under the dismantled bearing. This was the root cause of the problem as this is what it did to the clutch covering plate....
It had eaten a nice ring into the cover and broken a few of the ends off the fins!!!!! So had to get a new one!
Old clutch and the new one, was gonna go RST, but burtons didn't have them, and I'm not really running enough power to warrent it yet. So the original will do for now. What you cant see from that picture was the clutch was worn down to the rivits!!!!
But its all together now and its transformed the car! Havent been out to see how well it launches yet, but gear change is now smoooth as, and it dont even crunch into reverse! So pleased with it, gonna wait for the clutch to bed in before trying any launches.
So we are both a bit sunburnt and when we finished I was filthy, baz had turned into a black man!!! Just like a reverse michael jackson!
Sorry baz, will pressure wash the engine bay before working on it again!
So joy car is all fixed now!!!
