none IMO.

But i think in all honesty, if the engine its built properly there would be no need for guages.

And if you had guages i think they would make you paraniod.

Say you loost oil pressure and it showed up on the gauge, that second it took for you to look at the guage the damage is certainly almost already done.

All my opinion of course

Ryan, the SPA oil pressure gauge will beep or flash a brightly coloure dred LED if oil pressure drops and im sure others will also
what indication would you get if oil pressure dropped and you had no guages and oil pressure could drop due to a failed hose, when the engine could be built and work perfect

for a cossie the most important gauge is the petrol gauge

ryan thats in extreme situations, but if it drops slowly then ya got the chance to sort it, imagine the engine oil never got to temp or ya sump had a leak, they would help ya out alot

sump gasket wouldnt affect oil pressure unless it stupidly low.

What difference is an engine in our car to an engine in any other car?

and you should notice the huge oil patch on your drive if you have that bad of an oil leak

All depends on what you want, and often in addition you need a thermocouple which adds to the price aswell!

Great guages though!

Well i think turbo engines are more needy of guages for the following reasons.

on a n/a car oil pressure usually isnt a problem, and the oil pressure light is ok !

on a turbo car, there aer oil feed/return hoses which are prone to leaking/bursting and the loss of oil pressure is very fast, so an additional guage is probably wa wise move!

boost guage helps if the car isnt going proper, overboosting, can see how much and if it is, etc

AFR guage, can tell if the car is getting the right fuel-air mixture, again not much of a prob on N/A cars

there not Essential, but all help and keep peace of mind to tuned cars which are more prone to breaking IMO

engine principles are the same.

Its only old parts or poor workship that fail engines.

They've got 10 people watching those monitors though, you've only got 2 eyes and there supposed to on the road not the gauge

F1 engines are a little different to ours. F1 engines are pushed past there limits and then taken back a degree so there completely on the edge.

99% of people cant afford to run that sort of a risk with their engines, so are far with alot more accetable limit.

Im not saying gauges are a bad thing, far from it. But if people spent the 100's of sometimes 1000's they spent on their guages on the engine being built to an even higher workmanship standard they alot of the guages wouldnt be needed

Once again all IMO

Oil temp is the only propper way of knowing your engine is up to temperature
