http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...sPageName=WDVW

I built them about 4 years ago as "Limited Edition" Piano Black (ultra high gloss finnish).....They are compact (30cm high), when NEW I sold all eight pairs for £ 848 per pair.......most of them went to far east - mainly Hong Kong/Singapore..........

I knew they would be "collectable" and worth a fair bit in a few years time (like 10 - 15 years time) BUT £ 1,500 now

LOL...........

Thanks pee vee..............

Thing is, I make these speakers for the owners to enjoy listening to music through for years..............but if they can do that AND then make a profit when selling them, then I guess thats better still

i used to make these when i was 16/17 straight out of school with a gcse in electronics - started off as the saturday boy and then went onto production of the hand made Matamp valve amps - you may of seen bads such as The Verve, oasis, Catatonia, Natalie Embruliae, Manic Street Preachers using the "Orange" amps and stacks when live or on top of the poops

bloke who owns Matamp - Jeff lewis is a friend of the family

Yes, I do recall Matamp...........company was set up bt Matt Mathias ???

Anyway, TOP London and Essex DJ's used Matamp gear (mobile disco rigs)......Mike Allen (Capital Radio) and Froggy, Jeff Young etc ......Froggy's rig was over 16 k watts (back in the late 70's that was HUGE power )..........Froggy eventually upgraded to ASS loudspeakers (Tony Rousell)....and Mike Allen to Martin Audio loudspeakers with Amcron amps

thats the one doug - Matt started his shop on King street in huddersfield many many years ago, then when he passed away, jeff bought the company and all the rights to the products etc, the rights to Orange were sold to i think, Cliff Cooper in london, however, matamp were still contracted to make the amps and are still so today

see people - i aint lived under a stone all my life

Sorry Lewis, I dont do car speakers...........Only ever done ONE boot build (for PHIL2400)..............

I only produce the one product - the classic Stirling BBC LS3/5a loudspeaker (I build than under licence to the BBC).........the only options being the cabinet veneer finishes

Good stuff Doug

That finish looks fantastic - even in the pictures

How do you even begin to go about making something like that??

That guy talking about his Amp:

So, how does it sound? Well, this is a recreation of an early 60s valve head, so it’s no high gain, preamp distortion amp. Also, it’s a Matamp, with a Baxendal tone stack. It doesn’t sound like a plexi – it can get close, but it’s always Matamp – and that’s a good thing. This is all about the output tubes. Crank it up and you get that great British crunch and overdrive that just sings, with that sweet edge and chime that Matamps have. With the EL34s engaged it’s warm and woody with the trademark early breakup and smooth, sweet overdrive. Engage the KT88s and it hangs onto the cleans a little longer and barks a bit more aggressively when wound up – this amp is good for Malcolm Young-esque rhythmn, Peter Green blues, Angus style rock and all sorts of other good stuff too: back off on the guitar’s volume and the amp will clean up nicely; or use a lower ‘Drive’ (preamp gain) setting to get that classic warm, hi-fi Matamp clean. Add reverb to taste - the reverb, in true Matamp style, will go from subtle to over the top happily, or can be disengaged completely if you prefer it dry. The ‘Depth’ control is basically the same as the current Matamp ‘Voice’ control – progressively adding more bottom end and gain as you turn counter clockwise – although it’s more complex than that – this control can really change the character of the amp. Boost adds a kick similar to a treble boost and the presence adds that upper mid kick that just adds a little more, well, presence! All of this with the trademark Matamp responsiveness and super fast attack. These amps are super sensitive to picking dynamics and will make every other amp you’ve ever played feel slightly dead in comparison.

Passionate to say the least.

Steve - thats just been copied and pasted off the matamp website and straight into his auction - no passion from the seller

the latest matamp heads and GT series amps have auto valve biasing so you don't need to run perfectly matched valves
