Mate i'm not too far away at my parents house (well under 20 miles) stay somewhere near Stoke/Newcastle and i'll take you in to Hanley the night after (getting hammered the night before Alton Towers is not a good idea )
They run a direct bus to Alton Towers from down the road from mine as well
When are you going?? How many of you? etc etc blah blah!

think nearest one will be place called uttoxeter. theres a travellodge on the a50.
towers hotel is nice but its well pricey unless you get a deal and make a weekend of it. the water park is mint IMO.
towers hung over is real bad idea as phil said!! done it good few times. not only are the roads bit dicey on way there (well they are if you drive like you enjoy driving! ) but if you dont get there early and there are queues etc its not nice. and the rides guarranteed to help you bring it up lol!
although holiday inn by britannia stadium wont take you long to get to towers from there (bout half hour) maybe more on your way from south wales. (m5/m6/a500/a50??)

Dont want to stay in the towers as well pricey and its only going to be for one night to save traveling up early in the morn.
Brain that place sounds good, so how long would it take you to get there from uttoxeter?

We stayed here cos its a pub, food pretty good, had Ostrich steak, better then travel lodge.
Breakfast good sorted out the hangover, they do like dormatory rooms/family rooms.
Very close & a pub
