marco, i aint fussed about the feel of the car, ie. if it has to be hard to make it grip/handle better then thats what it gets

afraid i dont know the rating of the inserts

wont be running anything less than std ride height on the rear as it only has a std beam at the minute

Ok Matt is your car going to be a track car only ????????

a couple of tips for you first ,

fistly get some adjust TCA's on the front thats a "MUST HAVE" no bicting about money just do it .. Get your wallet out they are worth every penny

secondly go for something like A bilstein Tarmac coilover say this is off the top of my head 470/170 or 480/180 or 490/190 or 500/200 with about 400 to 450 lbs springs ( for rd)

rear.... solid mount your rear beam go for mag billy coilover gravel seting with rose jointed top and bottom

get your self a pair of rose jointed traling arms (early grp a) that will do the job

you can try ...250/100.... 260/90 ..260/100..260/110 ...270/110 ...270/120 280/130.. 290/140 ............. after that then your going into tarmac setting

there are fooking absoltuly loads of bilstein setting mate the choice is yours

I tryed one of the Mag billy tarmac on rear which was 350/150 fook me it was hard i mean way hard for me but might be good for you
,this setting on the rear gave me no feed back from what the back end of the car was doing there needs to be a bit of give so you get some kind of feed back from the car the back end could step out and you wouldn't even no

then you will need you castor and camber set up it wouldn't go around corner quick unless you have it set up

ask Dingy what his cars like on the handling now , i know it a mk2 but his car was wayout

good luck mate

Marco

marco polo,
then i would say for rd 12" in height with a 2" helper spring and may be 400lbs or a bit less ........ it's so hard when it comes to suppension because it's like a personal setting .......

AMEN!!

i dont like using helpers, didnt make my car nice at all , but i run the longest springs i can possibly get onto the shockers with the correct rating of my choice !!

i will be ordering some adjustable tca's...was going to do this anyway

Mark

i use the helper springs for rd use i have 12" springs with 2" helpers on the front

and on the rear i have 16" with 2" helpers its a bit more forgiving on the rd with these on it doesn't seem as harsh with these on

I hate getting involved with suppension it's so much of a black hole it's unreal everyones taste is so different as you know all my car is a gloryfied rd car and thats it really with a few rally bits on

it will never be a good track car and it will never be a good rd car as the shell isn't seam welded or strenthend in any way so it will always be a jelly car it has a couple of sturt braces but thats it

Matt

get Gaz to give you some ratings on the shocks that you have bought

if they are soft you can't just put harder srings on because then your shocks wouldn't work properly

sell them and get some proper billys and stop messing about

Bilstien are the best out of the cheapest supension if that makes sence

i don't care what anyone says they are better than koni/gaz /avo/leda spax and thats my choice and i wouldn't change them for any other of the ones i have mensioned

I WOULD change to Ohlins /Proxflex and a few of other very good makes but i can't justify the price when the car only does about 6/7 track days a year so thats my main reason why i stick to the billys and they last very good valve for money and do their job well enough said

I had the billys grp 4 on my mk2 escort never ever had a problem with them

cheers Marco
