Default rough idling and rich running

changed the headgasket on a 2wd cossie today due to a water leak. after putting it all back together it runs real rough.... doesnt idle properly and runs very rich. i have changed the act sender and there was a loose conection to the ect which has been done now but to no avail. ne ideas please

Check the Blue ECT sensor itself - easy to damage it or the wiring when removing/refitting the head. Also check MAP sensor pipes etc.

Any other symptoms, like smoke?

lots of black smoke lol.
all hoses are fine and all wiring seems ok to everything. how do these sensors damage so easlily? neothers?

Lots of black smoke suggests either ECT or MAP sensors, had the same problem on mine a while back - was a bitch though, because they were both failing intermittent

ECT sensor is cheaper of the two, so perhaps change that first?

will try the ect tomo as i have one i can use. as for the map sensor i looks like it has been fixed at some point where the thing has snapped off, but do u think just alittle knock would do it?

Mate, I had a Sapph' that had the same bodge (which obviously at the time I didn't realise) but it eventually failed again..... it's highly (imo) likely that's the issue, but as it's been 'repaired' before, I'd personally change it anyway.
