Default Rattling ABS Thing on Driveshaft!?

I took my car to the garage today to get my oil changed (I know it is an easy job but the sump plug was like a penny and it was being a bitch to get off) and I asked them to have a look at what was rattling on the car!

They found it to be something on the drive shaft (plastic) which they said was for the ABS! I am not using the ABS and have no belts on there either so I am not bothered if this comes off!

Is it ok to remove this? (Sorry I don't know any names for the part or anything)

Thanks
