Mike
I fitted an E36 3:0 M3 rack as this is the quickest one BMW do , It fits straight in except for where it sits in the cross member , the E36 rack is 13mm thinner so I just made up some spacers to fit on top of the rack housing to make it a snug fit , its just under two and a half turns lock to lock , I can get a rack a pinion made any spec but there £800 ! so I'll see how I get on with this .
Under the dash there is a bracket either side of the car , I took them off and swapped them over , as the bracket holding the column is a bit beefier , there a hole already in the bulkhead so just had to make it bigger , it was very simple ,
Just fitted a RHD dash , I got it flocked along with the door cards , which blends in nice with the black Prodrive WRC seats I got
The most difficult part was the exhaust , I had a manifold and system made , got a downpipe either side of the coupling , then had a twin box system made which exits on the side just in front of the rear wheels the same as the works cars did
The car really is nice , spent since last august doing it and did plan on rallying it last december , that plan went out the window ! but it will be ready within a month.
Cant wait!

Yes tarmac only , its not going near a rough road there's plenty of rallies coming up so wont pick a specific one until its running and set up , engine and suspension , I want to do the 2 eppynt's coming up in August , and do wexford in Ireland in september , and I want to do the Jersey rally in october , I will do a couple of airfield events before to make sure its right

Yes it will be road legal , it has to be taxed and Mot'd for rallying , but yes I am planning on doing more than just rallies in it , I'll gladly take you for a spin , er , not literally , may even let you have a drive of it , you got a full licence

I did this to my old Mk2 up on eppynt , at least I was waving to the crowds out the window as I went past
I'll shoot myself if I do the same to this
I have taken loads of pics along the way and plan on putting a page on my web site ,
I didn't even know there was a project page , I'll sort something out on there
