Got a Packard Bell which has gone funny, PB wont accept it back although its under 1 year old So anyone on here can fix it or know of any people who know how to do it?

It wont start up mate. At the time it was in sleep mode, so started it back up came on fine, went out of room and came back in and it was off . So tried to switch it back on and nothing! Wont come on at all now. Plus the power pack is making a funny noise like a hight pitched click. Though it should have come on even if power pack was fooked as battery was near full.

 

so now it wont even get to the bios screen or anything? any lights when you try and turn it on, charging,power HDD ?

 

Nothing mate totaly dead. Tried another power pack but still no luck.

Benn does Dan work with them,?

 

Sound like the power on the MB is wanked.

What you could try Rhys is remove everything like memory, Hard Disk, etc then try and power it up.

If it powers then put the bits back one by one.

rhys try powering it up without the battery in.

if its under one year old take it back to point of sale !

Craig tired that but still no joy, As for taking it back dont ask long story. So need someont to have a look and fix it

 

if the system board and the power board are integrated forget it it will be cheaper to buy a new laptop. if the power board is separate it can be done but will still be expensive.

i would do as other have said and try removing things and see if it powers up

 

Looks like i might have to take insurance out on it and will have to have an accident

 

Just an idea here. But packard bell are usually linked to DSG Group. ie DIXONS/pcworld/currys.

Have you tried their helpline.

I've got the insurance on my Packard Bell - they have repaired it 4 times alledgedly since i dropped it, the idiots and i'm sure they have used 2nd hand parts to do so.

I had the laptop between my legs, getting stuff out of the car and it somehow fell on the floor.
To date it's had, a new mainboard at a cost of Ł432, 2 new fans, 2 new heat sinks and a battery. Not good

 

Don't think i know any worse pc's then packard bell

 

Why wont PB take it back?
