Writing this on behalf of a mate, any help mucho appreciated!!!

I'm running Windows 98 and am having major problems booting the machine.

Basically the pc gets to the Windows 98 blue screen (logo), then suddenly goes into a black screen (DOS) and an says "Detection error - please restart your computer, press any key to continue".

Then, if you proceed to press any key, the computer goes to another black screen with orange writing (like Windows 95), saying its safe to turn off your computer.

I can get into the computer on safe mode, but this restricts me and cannot get any interent access.

Any ideas?

Agreed. Sounds fucked to me. But that's just a first estimate. you understand.

 

detection error means its fucked, try installing windows 98 over the top.
