Default Anyone know about EX POLICE MK2 Mondeos ?

Should all the ST models have body coloured door handles ?

both the ST24 and ST200 ?

is this a GENUINE ST24 ?

its an EX-Police car, does that mean its been well maintained etc. ?

Police had various options to keep costs down. Check the dash, etc, it will be full of holes unless someone has changed it. They are well looked after, but have the shit kicked out of them on a regular basis

Would have thought their would be obvious tell tale signs.
Very well maintained but I would say it would have been used and abused on a regular basis.

Surely a ford dealer could tell you what it is from a chassis number.

Was it cheap??

yeah, it does come back as a 2000 Mondeo Zetec... which explains about things like the door handle colour....

but it does register as having a 2544cc engine..... is that something the cops could have had upgraded from the standard zetec lump....and not change it on the database

Yeah ST24 didn't have twin pipes, as said above, they are service at regular intervals and looked after, but because they were the coppers "pride and joy" then they tend to get abused, if it is what your after, then make sure you chack it over

I'd say thats not a genuine one simple because the front bumper isn't the right colour which makes me think they've probably been added on at a later date. I do't know about the mk2 mondeos but the mk1's could come with the 2.5 v6 but not be anthing special, ST/Ghia. It'd just be a 24v LX for example.

from the photos that isn't a genuine Ford RSA pack bodykit it looks like a fibreglass replica-it has twin exit rear bumper and only r/h tail pipe (4 cylinders had l/h tail pipe hence why most replica kits have 1 either side), and the front bumper doesnt look right around fogs-the plastic "cups" that surround lamp are removable on proper bumper but look part of bumper moulding on the photo.

all W-reg ST's had the RSA kit as standard so its either been bumped and had replica kit on for cheapness or could be a fake.

also edited to say the sideskirts dont appear to have reomvable jacking point covers like proper ford kit.

just my opinion from the photos i can see.

hth

Looks like a fake to me - and no history as well!! That's poo - all ex-Police cars come with a fully documented print out of the service schedule. Look in the Autotrader and phone the company that specialise in Police disposal vehicles, they will tell you exactly the same
