Well the fan switch for an Iveco 49-10 is in the water pump/thermostat housing, a 405 diesel has it's fan switch in the radiator, a Corsa's is in the radiator. An Escort 1.8D is in the thermostat housing.....

Without knowing the details about the vehicle, it's a little hard to help you.

On a series 2 it's in the thermostat housing under the top radiator hose. On a Mk 5 it is in the passenger side of the rad on SOME models and in the thermostat on other models.

You could still use the MK5 switch in the rad as the cooling fan has nothing to do with the engine and running gear apart from it's triggered by the coolant to cool the coolant.

I can't remember what the S2 fan switch switches but from experience, it usually switches earth on and off but it is possible it could be switching positive current. This doesn't matter 1 bit if you are going to rewire it as per diagram above...

If it helps at all on my 1990 S2 it switches +12v, I've just had to replace mine and it is below and just to the right of the top hose.

ive just been to have a look.

On the temperature sensor on the main block, a brown wire comes from that into alot of wires, taped up in black tape.... at somepoint in the wires, 2 brown wires come out and go to this clip type thing, waiting for the other side of the connection block in theory, but its just dangling.... I know there the same wire, or at least i think they are because the temp sensor is brown with a white stripe, and the connection block dangling has 2 wires going in, 1 brown, and 1 brown with white stripe.... is this what im looking for?

I can't remember off the top of my head what colours the wires are and I'm not at home so I can't check, but if it's the connector on the block just below the top hose then thats the one.

You don't want the coolant temp sensor or the temp sender unit. The coolant temp sensor is at the back of the engine on the inlet manifold. The temp sender unit is next to number 4 exhaust port. The fan switch is directly below the top radiator hose in the thermostat housing and has 2 male spade terminals on it.

What are you stuck on?

Well there must be something in the stat housing as all the water would be pissing out! It's not that small as far as sensors go either...

It's about 27mm spanner size.

If you are rewiring your fans as per Tiff's diagram then you don't need any of the wiring.
