Default Modem cable extension..... can you have too much?

I need to extend the telephone cable from the house down to the garage.

garge is about 130ft from the house... if i get a cable that long..... will it affect my connection???

if it will.. is there any special cable that i can use to extend the house line down to the garage?

I recently linked my pc downstairs to my router upstairs, it was about 35mtrs, odd. used 2 long cat5 cords and a rj45 coupler to join them, no probs.

if you explain WHY you need it we can answer the Q better.

yes you can extend a copper line by 130ft and yes the signal strength will drop and the interference wlll be greater. but depending on what you wanna use it will affect if it MATTERS or not

think about how long the cable is from your house to the exchange... another 100ft won't make any odds
BUT use a decent twisted pair cable - type CW1128 or CW1308 proper telephone cable - or CAT5 network cable will work fine otherwise.

Dave you should be fine mate.

Signal should still be good enough for your net connection and I dont think the upload rate will be that bad.

Once your all rigged up run this and let me know the results:
