....what is in your opinion the highest bhp figure IF you put a std port size head on a cossie with a GT35?..Are you limited to a certain BHP?

LOL..
Karl and i were going to find this out once upon a time just for the sake of science.

Then we considered the ancillaries the failure could destroy and opened another beer instead...

I have seen an engine with a reliable 415bhp on a standard head/engine with a T4 turbo.
The engine had a 4x4 inlet manifold, a 2WD exhaust manifold and had 700cc injectors.
Standard cams.
Ran 2.2 bar and the power limit was capped because of the det limit on the relatively
high compression ratio of 8.0:1

Dont think there was much more to come even if the CR was lowered.

(this is NOT my engine before anyone says)

EDITED TO SAY standard cams !!!

Yes obvious surge but would that clear or just remain full stop?

With the largest ex housing i cant see there being a real surge problem, esp not if you can use whatever cams you want

With std head ports GT35's tend to surge at all boost levels at part throttle and at full throttle anything over 20psi. They surge badly from 4.5K through to around 6.5K and then tend to clear but go near 30psi and the surge comes back with a vengeance!!!

Don't know the exact power figure as it was done in vehicle but from the fuel map and boost I ran I'd say well over 450bhp.

(Std head with BD14's fitted BTW GT35 with both 0.63 and 0.82 ex housings tested)

with big zorst housings ur just delaying the boost - surely ud better just map it out if the sole intention is to reduce surge.

Does the larger housing increase surge or decrease Karl?

Phil it decreases it but mainly because the turbo can't produce boost until over 5000rpm so it can't actually surge until then!!! ROFLOL

Phil,
why are you not asking your "prefered tuner" instead of someone you have publically dissed on many occasions

StuH, no mate not yet just going through this weeks email at mo hence on this site too.

Brom, started mate, hopefully be finished tomorrow but at latest monday next week.

Ima, I'm sorry mate but it is'nt as simple as saying that. Cams and manifolds play a big part too so it needs to be a balanced specification built for each application.

Ok Karl....intersting so are you saying on a YB with 23mm ports by using certain cams you could get big bhp or are port sizes vital?

Phil,

By using the correct turbo and cams on a 23mm port engine you could get excellent results.

With regard to breaking 600bhp with a GT35, not on anything under 25mm.
