Speak to Simon at Woodford Garage. Get some grooved discs. Cant remember what make. Standard size discs and decent pads. The difference is noticable

Mike, I take it your answer needs to be taken with a pinch of salt, the most expensive brakes won't necessarily be suitable for road use

What would you recommend considering mrsFrog has std calipers and doesn't have money in her budget to change those.

Cheers

greg why does she feel the need for bigger brakes as in what problem is she having and whats her setup now

think getting a decent fluid in there and decent pads/discs , if shes warping em thell her to slow down

or seperate discs and bells

broms kit is very very cheap and works very well so also work out what ya got and what ya can sell if for to see if thats not gopnna be far off the new discs and pads as if thats the case then get brembos

Nope, I stand by my comment. Once you have had a car with APs on, the difference is unbelievable (even on the road). I personally think they should be standard kit on any Cossie over 300bhp.

However, if budget is an issue, then my advice is:

Standard OE discs / best pads you can afford (Ferodo DS2500s / Mintex 1155s) / braided hoses / Castrol SRF. You have to make sure that the pistons are not sticking, so may be worth overhauling the calipers.

You will probably find that the poor performance of the OE set up is due to it being 15 years old and never been properly serviced....

1155's aint road pads though and aint the best when cold , i remeber giving me cab some stick at about 1130 in winter and then having to brake for a roundabout and then not being very good , BUT when there warm there the tits hence why i still have em

also agree that servicing the calipers make a difference

Guys.... hold on to your horses!!

Didn't say I wanted to upgrade.... although I wouldn't mind really... would make me feel a bit better knowing the car CAN brake!!! But as hubby has said, apparently I can't afford it...

So my baby will have to do with the next best thing.... without a caliper jobby... simply because she NEEDS new brakes... font pads, and rear discs and pads.

But thanks all for your input. Will get hunting now...

rears discs id use brom as hes the cheapest ive seen for discs

change the fluid to srf or the stuf that christian uses as that makes a difference and wont need changing quite as much as the srf and its cheep too

front pads id say mintex 1144 for normal road use unless ya really agressive and dont mind warming em up ( dont take long btw) then get 1155's as thats what i use

A Sapphire weighs considerably more than a bean-tin and I never had any problems with them, but prefer the DS2500s personally.

MrsFrog,
All of the flexible brake lines replaced with braided ones.

Ginge,
I actually concur, if you have 4x4 vented rear discs or the 300mm vented big discs, you can even get away with El Cheapo pads on the back on track. Forget it with the 2wd solid ones though, as they'll wear out in one 15minute session at Snetteron .

I fitted EBC disks to mine and Mintex pads (way back when) and the results were great.

Now got 330's and Porsche calipers.

Ok... think I will be going for the Ferr. DS2500 rear and front and some OE rear discs... and as I need a treat, will splash out on breaded hoses!!

Better order before the man gets home!!
