Default Towing on A roads / Dual Carrigeway???

Been soooooo many years since I passed my driving test I cant remember what the law is.

Towing with a rope............ I know you cant do it on a motorway but are you allowed to do it on a main A road / Dual Carrigeway?

I need to move the Fiesta later this week across the other side of the city and the easiest route is the A5, but if anyone on here knows the A5 through Milton Keynes its very much like a mototrway in terms of speed and weight of traffic.

If I am allowed is it restricted to 60mph?

Cheers in advance for any help

Dont get a BAR, or get a decent one if you do, i towed my RST using a bar and it snapped sending the RST slamming in to my laguna spinning me round facing the wrong way with a bloody lorry flying towards me
fooked me RST passenger door as well

if i was to tow again i would use an A Frame

Westy - which FF? Dunstable? If so, dunno will ask Gaz later if its anyone I know.

The rest of you, bugger buying a bar, its only the flaming Fessy, I begrudge spending any money on it let alone money it doesn't really need

That reminds me, I keep forgetting to find out where the thing actually is

If you want to tow it on a rope and need someone sensible to sit in it clare then i can pop up.
Bar is only about 20 quid though and useful to have if you own a ford and ive got a tow bar for the alfa (removeable one) that we could attach it to

youm are not allowed to toe onnthe motorway under any circumstances unless licenced !!!!

also its a offence to pull over on the hard shoulder unless broken down, ya cant pull over to help a mate tow as the guy helping you is not allowed to pull in the hard shoulder

thats why i joined the AA

oh and A roads aint a motorway so clare ya fine , just remember to keep the tension and brake for the car thats towing ya
