Default Power Steering noise...help required pls

Its a sort of squeeky rubbery, motor sound that happens under 20mph when i turn left or right...over 20mph and it dont make a sound. Most noticeable obviously when stood! Any ideas guys?

they all do it its just putting strain on the pump as the engine isnt turningthat fast

try tightening the belt

i used to hear a small kinda buzz on my escort cos(the white one). This one is similar...but like i say, its quite a loud rubber buzzy squeek thats only just appeared on the sierra! How do i tighten the belt?

you undo the pump if i remember rightly and push it outwards while retightening it

the belt is self tentioning iirc.


Could put a new belt on Lee, see if it stops.

ok will try to tighten...if no joy ill try a new belt...if still no joy i will turn the radio up

the adjuster can sieze (my air con one did) the can be freed off fairly easily with wd 40 and working it back and forth.
