Seen this before where you could leave it for ten minutes or three days; touch the mouse or send anything up/down USB once in a while and it killed the PC instantly. Turned out to be a faulty hardward I/O controller (I dunno exactly what) - ritually burnt the motherboard and it's all been good since.
Best bet is to find someone with compatible parts (RAM, video card, CPU, mobo) and swap them out until you can pin the problem down to a piece of h/w or combination.
End of the day you might be best off just replacing the mobo, CPU and RAM for what it costs (and a frozen mouse strikes me as being most likely hardware, not software related).
... or am I just sputing crap again
- sorry!
