edit: Ive always wanted to try a fast merc, I know they like to draw 11s for fun 😎
r63 no good mate not tuneable its na and to old gearbox wont be as good and safety not as good
audi seat options are rear facing no good. ive looked into it gl63 amg is best available
Gl63 AWD stock 0-60 mph 4.6 seconds, remap should shave a few tenths off that, 425 kg heavier than the RS6 so will never be as quick or nimble, but it's closest I could find for 700 hp and under Ł40k
i like the Bentley bentaygas but at over Ł100k used there absurd money and depreciating at an alarming rate

its a good point about safety tbh mate, people tend not to think about it, but its a massive factor in reality, Ive modernised our dailies for that exact same reason.
I overlooked the N/A thing, it is disappointing especially as the r63 was done as a showing off exercise in the MPV world from merc.
4.6s will see off quite a few cars, and with a map itll be very quick as you say, Im also a fan of the merc interiors, they are usually very plush and nice places to sit in, Ive only ever owned a S211 E-class but the way merc focus everything to making the driving experience easier was a pleasant touch.

This is my first ever mercedes mate so excited about it, all the reviews seems to say interiors are second to none
It's got about Ł12k of extras aswell, TVs, uprated stereo, 360 cameras and 2 interior leather and trim packs almost Ł7k !
Love my RS6 I really do I can't imagine an everyday car can get any better just no 7 seaters, but at least the Merc is biggest in class so giving maximum boot space when 3rd row is up and also have a massive roof box aswell
My mate has one and it sounds epic when he floors it.
Monday pal there just waiting for new headphones for rear TVs then there delivering it Monday, got it from Chelsea mercedes so quite literally a Chelsea tractor lol
The turbos on that car are already working quite hard. I've done one with downpipes running as much boost as it can hold and it made 640bhp. That's a genuine 640bhp though... The client street races it in Dubai and it beats all the supposed 700+ cars.

Maybe needs some bigger turbos then could maybe go for 750 then if the box is upto it ?
We have a customer with an E63 who was going to do the turbos, but it's a huge job - engine out etc and has decided to go for a Bentley. The box is fine - you just keep the torque in check - same peak figure just flat rather than dropping straight off. I think you'd be happy with just a tune for what it is as a daily!
no....theres was to much doubt on the claimed figures so I cancelled. if I remember at the time you were quite insistant that it was unachievable ...anyway...I wrote that car off and bought another exactly the same but this one had been tuned by DMS by the previous owner....theres a couple of rolling road printouts that came with with the car ranging from 496 to 523bhp....the 496 session was before the camshaft tensioner or something or .other was replaced as it was apparently a bit tappy on start up.....
...my feeling on it though is although it does feel that bit sharper than my old one id be mighty disappointed if id spent the Ł1100 on the DMS package for the returns its given....if the real bhp figure is just over the 500 mark its a lot of money to spend for an increase of about 20bhp on what was a factory performance pack car with around 480ish as standard.
it does seem to put the power down better with the factory lsd option but ive never really had the chance to give it a good thrashing since I got it as its just been to wet and slippy..
the quarter mile season has just started so ill see how this one compares to my old ones 12.2 with a passenger...
the plan for my current C63 is if I don't crash it before ill trade it in in 2 or 3 years for the newer shape 4 litre twin turbo once the price drops down to a more manageable Ł25K ish….I dint realise beforehand how difficult to tune these n/a 6.2 engines were....
an add popped up for the new version of your car coming out this year or next....it said figures of 603bhp and 647lbft and a 0-62 of 3.7 seconds....that's ridiculous for something the size of a small house....

Be over Ł100k though pal
Picked mine up for sub Ł40k
4.6 to 60 I'd hope that will come down a few tenths with a remap, I want it as quick as my 690 hp 740 lbft RS6 FFS lol

Torque is 560 ftlb stock, what's limit of torque on them ?
My RS6 is 740 ftlb and been like it for about 7k miles no issues touch wood lol
If my Merc can make over 700 ftlb with over 600 hp I think will still keep me happy

downsize a little and give up a few of your cars....you seem to have quite an expensive collection....

Ooh bad news on the write off!
500 is exactly what I would expect from your car with a tune. It is nearly impossible to tune a modern N/A car unless it is restricted from the factory. The reason it will be restricted from factory is that another model uses the same engine and is more expensive. In your case the E63 is 500bhp standard. So if you have a 457bhp stock C63 then taking it to 500 is a useful increase. If you have the 480 performance pack then the gain will be smaller. If I were you I would leave the car as is power wise and just enjoy one of the last great NA engines. When you get the 4.0 we can talk again about tuning!
It's here and it's bloody massive lol
bigger than the q7 even though it's 350 kg lighter
It sounds glorious, not even close to being as quick as RS6 but a remap will liven it up, it's good as it is though tbh comfortable and certainly not slow
Took a few pics and it looks much better to my eye than the dealer photos suggested, and can't find any marks on it for a 6 years old car to me it's absolutely mint
Looks nice that, sometimes Mercs styling can look too busy for me, but that looks modern and stylish without being OTT, and Stephan did the motor so I like it even more lol! Hope you enjoy it.
Hows the interior? It does look clean, and just enough noise to be entertaining 😎
my mate had the cayenne turbo and he said it was weird being in such a big car that could go so fast 🤣
Interior is lovely TBF and it is very comfortable
The noise I love even more then the RS6 it's a proper big V8 soundtrack from in car
0-100 mph 11.6 seconds, but once mapped that extra big gob of torque low down will make it feel much quicker I'm sure, it did in my RS6 the map transformed the car
In English that's 620 hp, 663 lbft so 60 hp, 100 lbft gain
I guess that is a more realistic figure then than the dms 700 hp
Yes much more realistic. You are a long way from me in Stockport for me to do it on the dyno, but I can do you a hand held bluefin type device if you want to DIY.

Rick
I've never done that before is it easy enough through obd I presume ?
I had my RS6 c7 remapped by mrc on the dyno, bit if it is an actual remap or just a generic file put on the ECU I don't know ?
Are any of them really live mapped or is it all a con and it's just a file ?
This is the engine here and they say themselves the m157 makes upto 900 nm of torque, mine is 760 but I'm tuning it to 900, if amg themselves built it for upto 900nm I wonder why it's derated ?
Just because the engine can do something...doesnt mean its a good idea long term, even with the backing of the manufacturer. And the extra abuse it can impart to the drivetrain again, is another huge factor.

I guess at 2.5 ton it's more load on the engine and trans aswell, should be fine though I'm sure with just a stage 1 remap
So I had to buy the dimsport mygenius from MSL performance to wake it up some more
i couldn't resist as I can reflash ecu to stock or mapped whenever I want myself
Ordered yesterday and it turned up today
Instructions didn't come with it but they emailed them straight away when I called, so I've done all the updates, downloaded stock map file from obd11 in car and emailed it to MSL
Just got to wait for my tuned file to be emailed to me then I can upload it and try it
Because it's so big and tall it's much easier for Jen to get in and out off so I'm gonna start using it soon and put the RS6 in storage
Imagine getting the RS6 out in 20 years time, IL be 60, kids grown up and il have an immaculate 26 years old RS6 with 36k miles on the clock while the rest of the world will be a mass of humming electric cars lol
