Default Cosworth top radiator hose damaged again...

Anyone else had this problem? ...

The power steering pulley is so close to the radiator hose that when it expands slightly the pulley wears a groove in the hose. Ive been through two hoses already and now its happened again.

To sort this I've had to change swirl pots and bought a pro alloy one as these are shorter and means it brings the radiator hose away from the pulley.

But I've never heard anyone else have this problem? I also replaced the power steering belt and tensioned correctly to see if this would increase the gap but no joy.

Has anyone got a silicone top hose preferably blue?

Sounds odd as Ford would have developed the car not to do that? Do you have aftermarket rad or is the rad moving in its mounts?

You could probably move the power steer pump if you could get a billet mount and amend it (Anembo would sell one) If you do not care about originality I could sell you a second hand Elec conversion kit with all pipework but some people do not like the feel of these and they can lag a little on a track car if you twirl the wheel a lot.

I think Roose will do you a blue pipe and they can bespoke them if you wanted a kink in it to avoid the pulley...maybe consider an alloy pipe with a bend to re-route it and then hose on each end.

We had to shorten the silicon pipes on the radiator to give clearance to the P/S on the 4x4's and that was 27 years ago. I would have thought they had made them properly by now lol.
The standard top hoses used to explode on the escort cosworths

I wore through one on my 2wd saph.
Where the hose goes onto the radiator twist it (before tightening the clip) so it angles up slightly away from the pulley.

You would have thought they would have just copied the standard ones as they fit fine
