Default Fiesta RS Turbo

Hi Guys,

Lookign for abit of advice,

Guy at work has a Grey Fiesta RS Turbo, H Plate, he is the third owner mileage is approx 100-110k.

Car has been off the road for the last 3-4 years, engine did a valve he says and he removed the whole front end (engine suspension etc), he has lost interest with it all and knew of that ive had a few old fords myself and asked if I was interested.

Engine obviously needs a rebuild, I remember the car when it was running and it was a decent car, not running huge power but a few nice upgrades including FMIC.

The shell had previously been painted to a pretty poor standard and now it requires abit of welding to the floorpan and two new front wings, then to bring it back to its former glory and full respray, also I remember the sunroof being tempremental when it was on the road.

My question is, in todays market what is a good price for this and realistically what would it be worth once back on the road in light of the above.

unfortunately i have no pictures to show its current condition.

Thanks In Advance

Whats wrong with the engine for it to be requiring a rebuild(exhaust valve shouldn't require a rebuild)? These cars are going up value more than the Series 2 ERST, Not quite Series 1 money yet......

Mine just sits in my garage as I enjoy my Series 2 more. Its MoT has just expired, on 121,000 miles but engine has been rebuilt about 5 years ago at 113,000 miles its fitted with a S2 LSD gearbox, has lots of history and full dealership pack, New mats and a pair of headlight protectors. the rear arches have some corrosion, and its had a full paint job before my ownership. I think mines a 5 owner red car. Valued at £7,000.

You need to tell us more for a reasonable estimate. Are all 6 green side mouldings fitted and in good condition as well as the front and rear bumper mouldings. Are all lights Ford genuine items/ambers all round? Is the RS steering wheel ok and is the grey leather gearknob still fit? Are the standard 3 spoke alloy wheels still available?

Current Owner believes it was timed up wrong when it was last serviced etc 3-4 years ago..

1st Owner owned for 2 years, 2nd owner owned for 20 years and current owner until present day

Green side mouldings and bumper mouldings were all there last time i saw the car (no reason to see why they would be missing now)

Ambers all round, suspect non genuine headlights but rears genuine

Steering wheel average condition, gearknob the same

Standarad wheels still fitted (never been on anything else)

If he'd have got the parts back on, Or at least replaced them the value would be higher. It does have the correct parts, As most people want them standard. If the dealership pack is complete and mats fitted(waffle style mats) thats 2 things the buyer wouldn't need to worry about buying as they aint cheap to replace. It'll have to be sold as spares/resto project.

Budget £1000 for a full engine rebuild(It may only need a top end build), If you say the paint job is bad factor £5,000 for a proper paint job. I can't estimate the welding as no pics, But £200 may be reasonable.

You may want to set yourself a budget, As I could see this costing more than buying a nice example. Try an offer around £3000-£4000, I assume he knows what they can be worth as you too?

This is mine, Providing PB works for me:

I fit bigger brakes and RS2000 alloys, I got the standard alloys in storage.

People selling up often tell a good story, I would assume it is worse and needs more than described, the figures above for body and paint seem bang on and parts might be hard to find for it but a newly restored one is worth the money when done and could be a nice project.

My 205 gti needed a whole heap more than the seller explained...he told me that the rear beam was lowered, it wasn't, it had ceased up completely and needed a new one.

as above, take someone who knows these cars with you as it could be a total rot box as majority of these cars are and thats without getting into mechanicals, so unless your a good welder or mechanic prob not car for you

Thanks for the info so far guys,

Ive taken on board the comments and had more discussions with the guy selling it.

I think he needs it gone pretty sharpish...... I think a low offer will likely take it.

As people have said it's really too hard to say without seeing it in the flesh mate.
But a good genuine clean example will fetch between £3k and £4k I would say (having sold one last year).
