Made a boo boo by selling the old water pump with the pulley still attached, and the new one didn't come with one
The guy we sold it to is being a knob and will only let us have it if we buy it off him for £30, and considering he only paid £90 for the whole pump I thought that was taking the piss.
Question is, I know the pump is a unique FRS item but does that uniqueness extend to the pulley are well, or will any 2.0, 3 bolt pulley do?
couple on eBay at the moment :
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/362007572552

I'll try Ford next week and see if it's still available, or alternatively, does anyone have one for sale?

Unique, the ford part number is 1138298. Part number for the rest is 1071742 and if fits st170 and all the 1.8 + 2.0 Blacktop Zetec cars.
I would bite his hand of at £30 as I don't think you will find another.
And as for only paying £90. I know they are £350 plus new but S/h It would be scrap if it was for any other car

I think you misread it chap.
it's only the pulley I'm talking about. We've had the engine totally rebuilt complete with new water pump (at £395!!!) but sold the old pump for £100 with the pulley still fitted.
we needed the pulley to bolt on to the new pump.
so it was the pulley I was asking about and whether any old 3 bolt focus pulley would fit or whether, lime the pump, the pulley was as bespoke RS item

No I didn't miss read ?
The pulley I believe is a smaller dia than the base Zetec / st170 item to over speed it. Part numbers are above.
And what I am saying is, if he will let you have it back for £30 get it quick before he changes his mind. I've been buying FRs bits for a Zetec turbo for years and I can't recall ever seing a pulley for sale.
The links to pulleys you have posted are for the Duratec engine. The Focus Rs may say Duratec on the rocker but it is very much a Zetec.
A standard one may or may not fit but if it does it will run the pump a little slower and need a bigger aux belt.

Ok thanks. That's what I was trying to establish, the pulley is different to any other focus or any zetec/duratec engine
I'll see if Ford sell them tomorrow then if not I'll guess we start negotiating
cheers

I would be interested to know if it's available.
And if you get yours back I would love to know the diameter to compare.

Well, we have it back. Cost us £20 but definitely cheaper than buying new
Went to Ford today, and it's still available at a cost of £85.13
The pulley itself measures 95mm diameter, dunno how that compares with a standard ST170 unit?

So therein lies the answer to my question
The RS pulley is unique and it IS smaller to drive the equally unique pump faster than a normal Focus.

Thanks for the feed back.
If you overspeed the base spec pump I think you could run in to cavitation problems at high rpm.
The Rs belt is only 5mm shorter as the power steering pump is spaced out further to clear the water pump. The tensioner would take this up.

We're doing away with the aircon so fitting a much shorter belt to make up the missing compressor loop

I know of a couple of people fitted the standard zetec water pump on their Rs's and had no problems. It seems the pump was over engineering
