Default road tax.....?

whats the score with tax these days? do you get a grace period for driving home a car you've just bought? obviously itll be mot'd and insured....

Tax it straight away online off the new keepers document

You can register it in your name online too now, a lot easier now but I'd imagine they could still f&ck it up

Bought a new car last month and it wouldn't let me tax it online, the reference number I used had apparently already been used so there was nothing I could do apart from chance it. Not my fault their system is flawed and the post office was shut by that point.

at the weekend and in a different country? do you put your card details into your phone to pay online? I don't trust that ! baring in mind ill be driving it back and taxing it from my house at the weekend so will be backdated to the start of the month anyway?

I took a screen shot of the message that came up on the dvla website, there wasn't much more I could do.

I don't know what leniency would exist for circumstances like that tbh, maybe depends on what mood plod is in.

the car I'm collecting is exactly the same model and colour as my old car....maybe ill just switch the number plates until I get it home !

cancelled that....the lying cunts add said 12 months mot and he told me on the phone it had sailed through the last mot with no advisories. I checked its history and it has 6 months mot left and it last failed on 6 things and had another 5 advisories. if he lied about that I don't imagine its been serviced or valeted or the 12 months aa cover is worth the paper its written on !

Some people can't help but lie by the sounds of it, I expect these people expect u to do a long journey and then not want to say no when u get there. Good thing u can check online these days as saves lots of wasted journeys and time

yep, 4 hour train journey to a small dealer. id walk away on the spot as soon as he back tracked or I discovered a problem even though it was another £150 for the train back.
