Default Handbrake cable snapped (adjuster)

wonder if anyone has had this before or can offer any advice?

basically where you set the handbrake tension in the cockpit the thread with the nut on has snapped in half.
there isnt enough length left to pull it up and put the nut back on so the car is now stuck with no handbrake

is it repairable or a new handbrake cable job?

the threaded part looks like its crimped to the cable but i assume that is the same for every car...

any ideas on what i can do?

car is a fiesta mk4

cheers
