Default Cosworth small end replacement ???

.

Question for engine people

Just had my bottom end back from the machine shop, going with over sized pistons as there was a small mark in the one bored that had to be machined out. so whilst it was being done I decide to have new small ends fitted.

I know they had to be reamed out so was done.

Question is, should I have a small amount of play between the gudging pin and the small end bearing as mine has.

Just seems a bit odd to me,

Any info helpful

Cheers

If you can get movement between the pin and bush I'm pretty sure that's going to rattle when it's moving.

No you should not have any play. they should be nice and snug but obviously still movable .

Try dunking the gudgeon pin in fresh engine oil then install in the small end and then see if there is any play.

If you fit them together dry then yes you will get play as the clearance is for oil to sit in.
