I have 570hp at the rear wheels and 425lbft in my Dax rush kit car and it's absolutely savage, but grips surprisingly well when the suns out!

Do you know what has been done to the engine to get it up to that power? I believe you have recently bought it with the engine already done by the previous owner?

Yes mate that's right, the engine spec is:

200 long studed block
Nikasil liners (standard bore)
Piston oil sqirt jets and twin oil feed block
Arrow crank (standard stroke)
Arrow con rods (uprated little end bushes and con Rod bolts)
Group a pistons (decked with valves cut outs, rings for nikasil liners)
WRC multi layer head gasket
Wide winged baffled sump
Accusump system
WRC oil breather system
2wd cylinder head
Standard valves
Piper double valve springs
Arrow mechanical valve lifters
Ported head
Piper 651 cams
Swedish inlet
Billet fuel rail
1000cc injectors
Bosh motor sport fuel regulator
70mm throttle body
Inconel exhaust manifold
Turbo smart external waste gate
Gt35r turbo
T62000 Ecu

Also got a t5 box with glebe straight cut gear kit and a bara motor sport plated diff.

It's had quite a bit done and only 1200 miles since rebuild

That must be savage!!

But I would of thought the torque would of been higher at that hp?

I wonder if it is the "at the wheels" that is throwing it out?

I beleive that's on a hub dyno as the car only weights 700kg they couldn't stop it wheel spinning over 1.9 bar on a standard dyno

The person you bought it from must have spent a lot of money on the engine, but what a specification!! I would love that in my 2wd Saff!!

sounds like a beast!

what type of intercooler are you running and how well does it cope with warm days?

it looks like the ambient and inlet temps figures are transposed on that dyno chart and the ambient temp at the time was about 9-10c?

Intercooler is very large and the radiator has been moved to the rear of the car, temps on the car are all very good everything works nicely, the guy I bought it from was a really nice guy, very clued up and loved the car so much, he built it himself in 2000 and has been modding it ever since and altering things over the years so everything works great.

Looks great, nicely done and good idea for the air filter placement. You ought to do a thread on it with a load of pics...would like to see the radiator placement.

@ Turbo Trev...imagine that with a Borg EFR on it...LOL (Ok, I will get my coat!)

Even a smaller GTX30xx or similar Precision etc should bring the power on a lot earlier.

Definitely a good job with the intercooler though

Totally, I was only winding up turbo trev. But I agree a small turbo and that light weight would spill up very early...I would have thought this big turbo would too.

very nice install.

that is a good size intercooler. where abouts have you got the engine rad now, inside where the rear tub would go?

what does the idle control valve do there, it looks like its related to the dump valve somehow?

I'd say the large turbo could make it more difficult to drive than a smaller one would. But if the owner/driver is happy with how it performs...it's all good.

Idle valve just looks like it is remotely mounted, probably for packaging reasons.

but the idle valve looks like it feeds into the intercooler outlet (before the throttle body) unless its the dump valve?

would be interesting to know what diff its on. 3.6 or 3.9 with that spool point renders 5th gear redundant below about 90

more pics would be good.

i guess you must have the dax bonnet bulge to be able to lift the engine up in order to get that plenum in without hitting the left upper chassis rail?

The bloke who built up that engine knew what he was doing, biggest intercooler I have ever seen on a YB. Wonder why he sold it after getting everything so sorted?

Ha ha lol,
I dont think it really needs one!
Garrett ftw!
That's the kinda spec I'm looking at, just find it weird the torque is lower than what I thought

Cheers Paul

The idle valve is simply an air bypass across the throttle blade. You can only see one part.

The dump valve is clearly visible and the two are in no way connected.

Could be cams, boost, mapping, dyno, whatever.

It's hard to compare numbers from totally different dynos

I'll get some more pics and do a thread if you like, I've got tonnes of paper work with this car with everything that's been done to it now and in the past.

The car doesn't have an idle control valve it's now used for the anti lag, I'm still learning how it's all setup the guy told me everything but it's way past anything I've ever done before.

It's a little laggy but not really that much, once that first little bit of lag is out the way and the throttle is kept open, the pickup is fŁ&cking ridiculous!!

Yes very pleased, it was tough for him to let it go, genuinely a lovely guy who just loved the car but he was early 50's now and he wants to put an Aston in the garage instead.

A couple more pics, but like I said I'll do a thread and go into some more detail about it, when we get another heat wave I'll get the go pro out too.

Would it be that important? I bet if any of us drove it there would be more than enough torque and power!!! I think sometimes we get to wrapped up in figures and worry to much about them. Its how the engine performs on the road which is the most important thing. There is always someone that says they would have done this or fitted this instead of whats already been done to it but I guarantee the guy who owned it was more than pleased with it!!

Maybe you've taken what I've said the wrong way mate, not important really especially not too me, my car has an average torque figure for its spec and at only 500hp I love the way it drives.
Seeing as these days what with the Borg Warner turbo take over happening and them turbos producing so much low down torque I find it nice when a little gem like this car turns up.
I would rather have that spec engine in my Sierra than an efr conversion tbh

Cheers Paul

Love the tag straight line brigade lol. Can powerful cars set up properly not go round corners? Am I missing something I thought it was only people who hadn't been in a really fast well set up car who thought that lol
