well as said I am adding a pour in thing to the coolant which is Ł30 a bottle, on the bottle steal seal reads not compatible with water-less antifreeze so I want to make sure if this is water-less or not.

I posted a pic for ray barker as he requested in pm, cannot post pic there so made this thread for him to see the pic,

so would adding tap water be ok including hwen adding steal seal into the equeation ?

If you car is leaking and losing water then using steal seal will be a temp fix and as people have said already may do more harm than good, and if not compatible with waterless coolant then you just risking more damage.

Get the head gasket done then it takes away the worry

There is only 1 company I know of that make waterless coolant and your probably not going to get your hands on it.

That is a normal coolant and is fine with steal seal, stop asking questions about it please.

It's also ready mixed so it is concentrate with water added, concentrated antifreeze is still not waterless coolant, it's a completely different special type of coolant you have to specifically buy.

as said, spent Ł2000 on repairs on this in less than 2 years, I would get head gasket replaced if I know it needs doing but there are other potential other big problems as well and when I weigh it all up I winder if repalcing the hg would be worth it. the car runs great other than having to top up water time-time.

I have 6 bottles which = 6 litres, will that be enough ?

well Ray balker wasn't too sure, he says he guesses it is fine but he does not know for sure, how do you know it has water added already ? so will topping it up with just this coolant be okay with steal seal ?

but how do you know it contains water ? the bottle just reads antifreeze & coolant with no mention of water !

reads ready mixed which I assume refers ot antifreeze and coolant.

main ingredients Mono Ethylene Glcol

jut pour it in it be okay as it pre mixed. and when it runs low top up with tap water as when required

but if it not compatible with steal seal just take it back and buy normal anti freeze that is suitable with steal seal and the again top up with water as and when required, go to a motor factors as they will be able to point you to the right solution

Proper water less anti coolant is a an expensive product I think around Ł100+ mark and will not say anti freeze as people have said is totally different type of productr and only available form specialist places.

See people try and help you and then you argue with them can you not see people find this annoying

yeah, just reads antifreeze & coolant, I just want to be sure, if it didn't work I don't want to be wondering if it is because I should have used different coolant, then having to pay another Ł30- Ł40 and try with another bottle.
steal seal says on bottle not compatible with waterless coolants or pure antifreeze, if this bottle does contain water then isn't this normal anti freeze ?

oh for fuck sake you really don't listen do you !!!
its READY MIX it means it's already been mixed (with water) to save you the time if mixing it yourself from a concentrated form.
End of no more questions required on the matter

That's the wrong stuff anyway, should be the pink stuff for a focus, that stuff will react with the pink thats in there, sludge up and block the system.

When you take it back to halfords, do everyone a favour and buy a bicycle.

Waterless coolant is made and marketed by a company called Evans.

Before use, the waterless coolant requires all traces of traditional water based antifreeze coolant to be removed from the engine cooling system by means of a special flushing fluid.

To flush and top up your car with the waterless coolant would cost you in the region of Ł150+. Any subseqeunt top ups once that substance has been added will be with the special waterless coolant and NOT water or pre-mixed coolant or "ezeerF itnA" (which you have in your hand in your photo)

DO NOT confuse ready mixed (ready to use) or concentrate (dilute with water before use) with a waterless coolant. Surely you're familiar with orange squash???

I'm quite a tolerant person and will give the benefit of the doubt to most of people but I must admit that you're persistent daft questions really are starting to grate.

Everything you have asked (with the exception of a bit of advice with that oil feed pipe which you ignored anyway) could have been answered by a simple google or just by reading the instructions on the product you've purchased.

FastLife91 When are you going to wake up and get rid of your Focus!!! If you have REALLY had this many ongoing problems with it week after week surely you can see its had its day!!!! Do you not want a car that is reliable and all you will have to do is clean it and service it as required and not have to be asking us every day how to fix it!!!!

Are you being serious? Do you think that your Focus is unique and does not require anti-freeze like every other vehicle in Britain does? Yours just has tap water in it? If that is the case you are extremely lucky the block has not frozen and split!!!!! Get real!!!!!!!!!!!

My wife asked me why I had been staring at a bottle for an hour....I explained that it clearly had "concentrate" written on it.

Well while it is loosing water it would be stupid to be getting anti freeze all the time, need to find out where it is going !
It has not been tool cold at all this winter, been unusually warm and no way the block would freeze in such humid conditions !! :rtf m:

You do realise without anti-freeze your engine's coolant system is building up rust deposits which could lead a to blocked radiator or matrix. Anti-freeze keeps the coolant system clean and lubricated. Worth a thought.

I do realise.
that is why I am asking where about the drain plug on the radiator so I can flush my coolant and refill !

So it has never been below freezing up North where you live? There is no way your engine would survive with just plain water in it. Why do you think everyone else has anti-freeze in theirs? It does not just stop it freezing but keeps the water ways clean and rust free.
You have got to be winding me up as its such a basic requirement for a car engine along with oil, clutch and brake fluid!!!!!!!!
