Hi there, I have a 2010 focus st225 which has 38k on, I recently noticed a tapping noise while on tick over and it gets louder and faster when I hold the revs up to about 1500 2000 in neutral, for can't seem to find the problem, it's worse when the car is warm? any ideas

Do these have duel mass flywheels on them.
Does it sound engine or gearbox.
If it does have a dmf put your foot on the clutch and see if it disappears.

 

Might sound daft but do you have a lose bolt somewhere or even a slight leak on the exhaust manifold

 

Could be bottom end shells
