alright folks this may sound a bit silly but after restoring my mk3 xr3i i had a pile of bits left over, most of the parts were bits replaced old for new .However i did have 2 large discs about the size of the top of a coke can and couldnt for the life of me figure out what they were off.Ive just watched an old car sos and seen them sitting on top of the front strut assembly. anyone have any pics or ford parts guide of how exactly the front strut assembly is made up,this may solve the strange thud i get when hitting potholes

 

Iirc there should be 4 green washers which go face to face between the spring cup and strut top mount with a bit of grease.
They are basically a bearing.
There may only be 2 but that's where they go.

 

 

1 green washer per strut then the bigger washer then the alloy domed piece.
