Saph Cossie discs and pads recommendations
Hi guys. Well cooked the brakes on my saph today on the way to Combe. Discs warped so bad that it's uncontrollable on braking and the pads overheated so bad the pedals now pretty solid! So I'm after a set of decent discs and pads for the front. It's a 4x4 and on standard calipers. What disc and pads combo would you guys recommend these days as been a good few years since I bought some for the old girl.

I am happy with my Ferodo DS2500 pads, also with some track use. But to be honest I haven't tried any other pads with hard use.
For the discs I think that the standard discs are too small. But if you are keeping them make sure you get discs from a decent brand, as the cheaper discs take a lot less abuse and warp quicker.

Thanks for your reply. I've heard about them pads before and everyone said there really good. Where's the best place to get them from? I'm looking for some better discs than standard. I've got ebc discs on there but they've done approx less than a thousand miles!

They were very good with ds2500 pads, both from Burton.

I have never used the EBC Ultimate pads. I did use EBC Greenstuff and had a pad delaminate from the back plate. Things like this can always happen, but it's not the first time I've heard it from EBC pads. They did however give me a free set of pads, Yellowstuff in that case, as I changed calipers and Greenstuff was not available for those calipers. They even gave me 50% reduction on Yellowstuff pads for the rear as they said it might upset the ABS otherwise.
I haven't tried the Yellowstuff on track, so I can't say how they perform under hard conditions.

Thanks for your replys guys. To be fair on a Cossie I know I should be buying the best and if I could afford it id buy a complete upgrade kit including calipers etc but I use the car probably once or twice a month and don't go very far. I'm on a bit of a tight budget but I'll try and buy the best of what I can afford. I only mentioned this as I can see someone posting I should buy this that and the other cause I've got a Cossie lol. Thanks again guys! I may ring my local ford dealer tomorrow and see how much and if they can supply a genuine set of discs then

Dont buy Tarox 40 groove as they lasted about 6-8 weeks in my car
I tried drilled which were a little better but they cracked eventually so put my spare set of second hand standard discs and went out round Silverstone had no issues - my mate on the other hand who had AP's but shit pads had brakes fade after a few laps

Grooves allow pad constituents that burn to a gas to escape from between the pad and the disc, this trapped gas is a cause of fade (reduced contact of pad to disc).
Discs don't need lots of grooves to do this, race discs don't have many 4-8 typically, hence tarox 40 were for show as much as anything.
