Default Focus RS thread

Now the focus RS mk3 is arriving for the lucky ones that ordered them early, do we think the values of the mk2 will take a hit. I know the mk1 values are on the climb.

I've always wanted an UG mk2, and was thinking if the prices dipped to say £15k I would get one at the end of the summer. I might try and hang on to the mk1, if possible, as it will appreciate nicely and doesn't owe me anything, but I would chop it in if I can afford a mk3, which I am thinking of getting in 2017.

FRS direct still have plenty of cars around the £20-25k mark, and i'm not starting a thread to criticise dealers, i'm genuinely curious if the private sales will fall in time, or do we thing its already hit its bottom value (seeing that some are 7 years old now!).

I've seen high mileage ones from £17k (75-80k) but most are hovering around 20-22k.
thoughts?

had a go in the new frs last night, totally appreciate what engineering has gone into it but its too bland for me and I hate 5dr cars and no doubt styling more aimed at their target market the yanks, cant see mk2 frs taking a nose dive anytime soon though

me too.......i think being an engineer im biased, the powertrain is such a step forward, the ST is a good looking car so the RS wasnt going to fail but it isn't quite as outrageous as the RS's of previous years.

the 5 door thing doesn't bother me, globally the mk3 focus is 5 door only, decision made, keeping the same monocoque, albeit with more bracing underneath allows the production to be more likely. a 5 door bespoke focus RS body wouldn't have been financially viable on a global car.

I can see the mk2 being even more popular as the mk3 looks horrid.

Will be interesting to see what happens with the prices of the mk2, I personally don't think they will dip much if at all, there is such a die hard following for them.

The mk3 appeals to a different target audience, I actually think it looks pretty frigging awesome and the 5 doors if the only reason it was a goer as I wanted a practical car that was a bit fun. I went to look at the st, decided it had to be in tangerine scream but then decided I would wait for the rs instead. Still waiting for it mind...

As a yank, agreed. I mean, for us it's great getting one stateside for once...but I would much rather have a Mk1 or Mk2.

I personally think after seeing a mk3 now in the flesh the mk2 looks so much better. Bet the mk3 drives bloody well though. Could never afford either myself so Dosent really matter

My buddys over in the states all said the same thing like you they are happy to see the RS at all in any form and with likes of ken block getting involved it was going to be a success, as most of the time I have to ship rs parts over to them as they simply cant get the parts without paying telephone numbers

It probably wont be very long before someone comes up with a Ken Block inspired alternative body kit to make it look more hard core.
