Default Sierra Diffs

Read the threads that came up on the search but wanted a fresh view.

Thinking of upgrading the diff in my 2000e. Obviously power limitations etc do not apply. Would like something that will act as a 2wd as and when required - not planning on giving the car death but if the notion to step out would tickle me i would like to know its going to lock every single time (welding is not an option).

Currently have a cosworth LSD but it can be hit or miss if it locks.

Tans-X and Gripper plated are the two I am thinking between - Would they come up for sale second hand often?

Of these which would be the better option? Car is not used as a daily driver.

Any advice welcome, cheers

If your LSD diff is not locking up properly it needs a rebuild mate

You'll be lucky to find either second hand, and for diffing etc the Quaife would not be the best option. Gripper is probably best bet.

There are people who claim they tighten the original VC LSD....although what that seems to translate as is they take it apart, dump the VC fluid and ram in some metal plates to force the diff to lock....until it eats up the metal plates probably destroying the diff in the process. Not sure how long that takes.

The correct way would be new VC plates and fluid...but that is very expensive.

Default sierra diff turns then seems to jam ?

Hi
I recently took my diff out and replaced radial drive shaft seals
to do this i sat it on its side and knocked the seal in - both sides
now when i try and turn it by hand it turns then seems to jam ?? turn it back and rotates but then also jams later ?

could i have knocked something loose ?

thanks
