Yeah it was and it was flying round track, when speaking to Karl about it he said they were developing a new inlet for it and going for more power I'm sure he mentioned something like 800hp.
Lovely car and great people that were there very helpful

You got any graphs showing the improvement?

lol I take my own advice and experience into consideration first
low down torque is never going to be great on any 2 litre engine running 700 hp.
if a 2wd manifold was a big restriction it wouldnt make 700 hp, I saw it with my r33 gtr, 084 ar housing maxed out at 560 whp it just wouldn't make anymore power and I was told by a tuner the turbo is just flat out no point changing housing.

but I trusted myself that it was the problem and mark confirmed it should make more power and I bought a 1.06 housing, remapped the car and it make 660 whp at the same boost ! which was then backed up by over 1 second being knocked out of the 30-130 mph time.

the housing was a restriction on the exhaust side and it just couldn't flow anymore air, but if nms have made 700 hp with a standard 2wd manifold it proves they flow very well, obviously not as well as a manifold with bigger bore pipework but it is still more than capable of flowing the air required.

Interesting read, has made me wonder if its worth buying a tubular now! As can get the t4 welded on for free, but then comes down to mapping it twice if it doesn't work very well!
Might have to suck it up and order one as well

Harry the manifold is still restrictive compared to the tubular jobby I know its not cheap but imo doing the tubo is just half the job mate !

Hey what you doing on here shouldn't you be putting some remoulds on a f1 car lol

Great link that, superbly designed engine I can only imagine how clever the cosworth engineers would of been working with 80's technology and still came up with arguably the best 2.0 engine to date

They are that indeed Maybe restrictive is the wrong word to use but response I would say after talking tro Mark and Julian and the like as they have not only see boost come in earlier but quicker build up as Julian has done a few road cars now too and used standard mabifolds and tubular ones and tbh from my point of view and not taking spending 1k lightly it was the best way always round rather than making things fit ect and with talking to the above

Are there any back to back comparisons with a standard manifold and tubular using the same twin scroll turbo on a decent power application ?

I wonder if the OEM actually has larger ports which maybe hurt spool a little at lower power levels ?

Yeh Julian has tested back to back but to sure about Mark although I know he has mapped both with logging iirc

Mike and Keith are legends thats for sure.
I understand where you are coming from Jay regards ease of fitment and all that and the added fucking about getting something to fit.
As i do shit like that on a daily basis and it can become a chore.

If cosworth had there own way there would have been many dead 80's sales reps and estate agents.

I'm buying a pukka manifold purely for the fact it's easier to get at the nuts!

I'll enjoy a Borg at the same time though

Out of interest mark have you put a 7064 on a standard 2wd manifold before?

I'm guessing it'll be less responsive with more lag but would it still make the same power?

Cheers Paul
