Default T3/34 hybrid rebuild

Evening all,I have a T3 turbo sitting here that's pretty fooked basically, took it off my 2wd saph. It's meant to be a hybrid of some sort but no idea really as it was on the car when I bought it.

I have a unit to go on the car that's supposedly been rebuilt but it's going to get checked over properly before fitting just to make sure all is well.

Anyway, sitting here tonight thinking about maybe getting the old T3 rebuilt with better internals, being relatively new to turbos as such I've no clue about it really.Quick google search throws up a lot of different stuff about T3s with T34 internals and machined housings etc.

Is it just a case of packaging it up and sending it to one of many turbo specialists and asking for a T3 with better or bigger internals? Not all that fussed for power at the moment just want it reliable, somewhere around 300 or over is fine.

Hi you could send your t3 to turbo technics and in return get a hybrid t3 capable of 380-400 and will run at 300 no problem

CR turbos.

Ask for a stg 2 T34/48.

This will do 400 flat out and with cutback blades a bit more.

I wouldn't bother with cr turbos. There our local turbo place and we've had 5 turbos of there's in the last 2 years go wrong. I even took a t3 that I could have had off my mate for £150 that was supposed to be fully rebuilt and I took it there for a check just to make sure I wasn't wasting my money and they said it was fooked and hadn't been rebuilt. I then showed them the cr turbos receipt my mate gave me to be told it was a different turbo. I gave the turbo back to my mate and said no thanks, he sent it to another local turbo specialist and they said its like brand new nothing wrong with it and he sold it to another mate who's had it on his Cossie for at least a year and a half with no probs, was gutted as I now gotta fork out over £350 for a rebuild :-( useless They were beyond belief

I emailed them a while back to see what options were available, might give them a try again. No need for that much power just yet

That would mean losing the wee unit though, quite like the fact that it looks standardish but might be the way to go for more oomph though.

I have a T3 that was supposedly rebuilt that I'll be selling on after I decide what I'm doing, won't be very expensive

Std T3 will top out about 340max
you will have to change to a T34 front housing to gain 380+.
But to gain anymore everything will be have to be spot on and running a lot of boost.

Anything over 300 will be fine for me just now, might need to sell the car to add cash to a house fund later this year so no chasing numbers at the moment.

I'm pretty much in the same position, it'll be interesting to see what you find out and what channel you go down.

Going to give Bernie blowers a phone and see what he says on Monday,if he can do a hybrid T3 that'll make 300 reliably then that's the way I'll probably go.

Got bits and pieces here to T34 it but not all that keen on spending too much just yet until we see how the house situation turns out.

Good plan mate. My t3 gave up soon as I wound the boost up on stage 3, it certainly didn't like that!

Never heard of him before but just had a look on FB and he seems to do some nice work.

I've got precision close to me so might see what they say but seem to here not so good things about them
