Default Cosworth theft

We all know they are supposed to be a high risk car, but how many people have actually had one stolen/broken into/or had an attempted theft?

Mine hasnt attracted any unwanted attention (yet! )

6 months into owership and, touch wood, no pikey has touched it.

But I recently got nervous and had a snap-off steering wheel fitted for when i park up at night, so I can sleep fairly soundly...

Mine was broken into and i was not happy.

Really made me upset to see it like that.

Some idiots try to steal it but couldnt get it started. it was parked in a open area and this old women went over because she heard the alarm, to scare the blokes away and was threatened. The police turned up. I turned up, by this time the old women was really upset and crying. Police took her to the hospital, I couldnt get the car started because they had cut some of the wires under the steering column. They had damaged the door trying to get in.

After my dad coming out to me and about 4 hours of messing around, it starts and i take it home.

I paid to get it fixed, hence a full spray job. The insurance contributed for the door. lol

I have'nt driven it much since to be honest. Actually it must of done less than a 1000 miles since. that incident was over a year ago. Sad really.

I still love the car but since buying it people have always had a problem with it. Sad really because i dont really say much to anyone, i just do my own thing.

The car is now under lock and key. I havent washed it in 3 months but if you see it, it looks like its just been cleaned. lol

I havent, its under a car cover, so no dust, nothing gets on it. I think the wheels may need cleaning as the dishes on the split rims are hand polished, just to make the sine again but thats it.

lol

I had one targeted giong back a few years.

They broke into the garage with normal lock & 2 additional padlocks, took a steering bar off, by passed a 7 point immobiliser & 3 point alarm

The police spotted it and gave chase but it lost 3 police cars down our local dual carriage way
Then dumped it on a picnic area

cops knocked my door at 3am to get it

waited 2 hours for a two truck and cost me Ł135 only to collect it at 8am with Martin

Once he repaired the damage i had to sell it as could not rest at night.

Nothing bad happened to my other ones though

Had my centre caps nicked off my 3 door outside my house

Someones had a go at the door locks since i've had it - doors a bit dented and the locks dont work with the key anymore

Dont like leaving it anywhere, makes me think quite alot about selling it and getting something nice but no so desirable to scum

I know of a trader round here that had 1 a few years ago (prob mid 90's) and I was told that some low lifes turned up 1 night and actually cut a hole in the bonnet to disconnect the battery (so alarm didn't get set off).

They got disturbed tho so the car didn't got anywhere but had to get a new bonnet for it

I had my first 2wd cossie nicked after only 5 days of ownership It had a cat 1 alarm, seperate fuel pump cut off switch, a dicklock, in a locked garage, and there was another car up against the garage door Got it back though, it had a tracker on it. It was full of oiley fingerprints but the coppers were not interested Told me it would be a waste of my time to persue the matter any further and I should be happy that I got my car back, even though there was about a grand worth of damage on it

My 1st 3 door was stolen off my drive 10 days after i bought it!
Had 8 injector plenum, T4 etc....and was very tidy. Got it back 'myself' 6 months later after the feds had given-up and the ins co. had told me to feck off (3rd party only!) Did a lot of detective work and put the word out and eventually it paid off. It turned out that the geezer i bought it from gave the spare key and alarm fob to his dodgy mate from day one and they had every intention of taking it back! Both have now disapeared strangely enough Came back with no i/d but everything else was there including a new set of BBS split rims!!
I was nieve back then and didn't believe that Cossies were still that nickable but am a lot more sensible regards security these days!

Whats the best security then?

what do we reckon could make them virtually un-stealable?

12 years without any problems, touch wood.

Nice neighbourhood and never leave in dodgy places if parking elsewhere might be the answer. Currently looking for some kind of tracker if the unthinkable happens.

i still laugh about this.......!

i had taken the engine out of my saff and it was sat on the drive, looking very sorry for itself, came home from work after a night shift to see both front doors ajar, stereo still intact, coins still in centre console, but bonnet had been opened, a few weeks later refitted spangly engine, fired it up , sat there and waited for the rad fans to come on....nothing....spent an hour chasing fan wiring, not one manual mentions the electric fan relays and fuses, shot round my mates to have a look at his saff and low and behold the fookers had knicked a couple of relays and most of the fuses they must of thought i was breaking it and helped themselves

Not being funny but where else is best to find out who has what spec cossie, where they live etc etc etc..................unfortunatly we like to post specs/what shows we go to and where were from etc etc and thats all fresh meat to any gangs of theifs.

Unfortunatly thats the kinda world we live in.

I had my bottom end nicked off my drive when i stripped my last one, some right wankers out there.
