I'm feeling the same these days mate, I'm worried one day I'm going to be priced out of owning my Cossie as the parts will become so expensive!

As I have said before Glenn ,all the time people keep paying these crazy prices they will just go higher and higher. Selling the parts for a reasonable price seems to be a thing of the past. It is now a piss take with greedy sellers just thinking of a price, trebling it and thinking how far they can go and still sell it!
At these prices can you imagine how much it would cost if all the new old stock parts were available to build a "new" Saff or 3door. Over £200,00 would be my guess!!

Yehi know what you mean. Its getting to the point now where i darent drive mine incase it gets damaged. I wouldnt think twice years ago about going to the supermarket in it. But as the prices for parts are going up,would i come out to my car to find it either damaged or parts pinched off it.

Tho thats not down to greedy sellers, as it was an auction, the buyer dictated what they are worth to him!

No reason why the seller could have,if he wanted to, put them up for sale with a fixed FAIR price. I sell on E-bay always with a fixed price/best offer. The seller knows on auction the people with more money than sense will just keep going higher and higher.
Maybe having a conscience is not important to some people just getting as much as possible even though you must realise its way above what its worth.

I wanted a transit connect starter motor for my ERST. Saw them on ebay for £50-70. Could have done with one on the day so called my local parts supplier and asked if they could order one in for the afternoon.
They could, for the low low price of... £490

They said they'd knock off £70 on service exchange.
It must have been some kind of mistake.

It used to be an excellent family business that was sold off. The new guys are young and not very sharp.

I discovered the last time I used them when I needed a pair of TCA's for the ERST. The guy ended up ordering the wrong ones which I could tell just by looking at them. He then tried to explain that my escort must have the wrong ones on then because he knows his escorts.

Why don't I buy your cossie for 5k as that's all I think it's worth lol.
The problem being with most of these part are they are getting hard to source and scarce parts mean they are worth more. As said above its an auction so it sells for whatever someone is willing to pay.
I had an almost new clutch for a mk1 frs as I upgraded mine now I could probably have sold it for about £200 but someone on here posted up needing and was local to me. The guy had rotten luck with his car and spent a bit of cash so I gave him it for free so it does I agree also depend on the seller.

I bought a brand new genuine Ford one for mine about a year ago and it was£28!!!! Why are people getting so greedy? Only the drivers window switch was broken but I thought for the price I might as well get the complete thing. Glad I got it when I did as there is no way I would pay £150!!

Hi Glenn I have still got spare switches which all work but of course are the original ones from 1990 so the paint has worn off a bit.

That was cheap. I priced a new one (Four way switch) from a Main Ford Dealer last week and was quoted €111.21 + vat. I also priced a double switch and was quoted €34.80 + vat. Big difference in price between the 2 and 4 button switches.

There is one for sale on E-bay at the moment for just £20 which looks in really nice condition with nice bright white paint still on the switches. I got mine off e-bay not a Ford dealer but it is a genuine brand new item with the correct part numbers.
Ford main dealer price will be high now as there are fewer of them still around I guess.
