Yep the Phoenix Gold stuff was seen to be the holy grail back in my day

My best install was a pair of alpine amps powering 2 x 15in earthquakes and some 6x9s in custom installs in my MK4 escort van..l

PG M series rocked back in the day...alongside Rockford, Alpine V12, Genesis, even Pro Plus were big back then!

These days, PG is pretty over priced for their performance although their Elite range looks extremely impressive but is way too expensive even at dealer cost!

RF produce some good stuff but are no where near as good as they were in the 90s, products are now cheaply produced in a lot of cases IMO and their specs aren't anything to write home about.

Alpine are just too mainstream and again, you can get so much more for your money

Pro Plus are out the game

Genesis, Gordon shut the operation down but it was started up by another guy in the last year or two.

Talking about Alpine V12...heres an old install we did;

Question for you guys, why is that that the cables we use are so thick that the connections on the amps are not made to cope? look at the alpine pics above, no way could that take thicker cable than shown or am i doing something wrong? The spade connectors used are too big to insert into the gap.
anything more than a 12AWG cable and your buggered.
I recently purchased some 0AWG cable (was planning on a big build) and then realised the amps could take the cable size so sold it and my dreams of the big build were dashed.
Going to use some 8AWG cable and have a normal 1 amp 1 sub combo

What's funny about those MOSFET amps is that MOSFET (metal oxide semiconductor field effect transistor) is just the type of transistor used in the amp and pretty much all amps! So they really have no brand name as such, they are just describing themselves! lol

I've had a few cheap amps over the years but ended up with an MTX that seemed to work very well

It's about resistance over a long run. I run 0awg from the battery to the boot, then 2 separate short runs of 4awg from a dissy block to my amps.

Unless you are running very powerful amps 0awg is probably overkill.
