Default Light conversions!? ESCORT MK5

So my pursuit into getting a mk5 Escort is not going to well if im honest, so im just wondering. How hard is it to convert MK6 and MK5B taillights into MK5A taillights?

Also i dont mind MK5B headlights as they are pretty much detangoed MK5A headlights am i right? But how would you convert MK6 headlights to mk5a or even mk5b headlights?

Lewis, I think you will be better on www.escortevolution.com.

That's dedicated to the Mk5/6 escort.

anything can be done if you have fabrication skills in metalwork otherwise simply go for decent quality aftermarket lights, like morrettes on the front and possibly half tinted OE lights of smoked lexus style on rears of a mk6, mk5s have to be nomads all day long

I have seen a Cosworth replica converted at the rear from the later lights. I think at minimum you'd need the metal light sections from an earlier car and a new tailgate. It is possible and I know what you're saying about how scarce the original Mk5 is now, I can't believe how few there are, although I guess they are old cars now. It does sound like a lot of hassle to convert a later car though. and of course the interior is different too, the list goes on. Not sure about the front lights when you get the bonnet off, they might need modding to fit too though.

I've seen an earlier shape XR3i on E-BAY if that helps at all, but there are very very few hard top early cars for sale now.

Here's the XR3i:

I'm of the same opinion as others on here, because I've been here before, if you don't tell the insurance about stuff your car will not be insured in the case of an accident, and you'll be in a right mess. And if you can get insurance at all, it'll probably be as expensive or even more than insuring the real thing. Might be cheaper just to buy the XR3i and run it!

converting the front to look like a mk5 is very easy but the parts can add up to a lot of money. I would not touch the rear lights, why bother?
after these pictures the car was fitted with a whale tail, painted and looked ok. Also note the car is lowered on 17inch wheels.
found this on ebay, worth a look http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ford-escor...item27ffbfa863
