Default Any chassis guys in? Question about strut tops...

I Want to get some camber adjustable top mounts for my car but nobody makes them.

I've also stripped my engine bay back to nothing and need to do a bit of welding then respray it.

So I'm thinking I may buy some top mounts off another car and then just cut my turret tops and then just plate them so I can re-drill them to suit the new mounts.

My question is, is there a reason why I can't just use flat plate on it?
Or do I need to use moulded/shaped strut tops?

Do I need to use the turrets off the car that I am planning on using the top mounts from? (I'd rather not use them as they're the wrong shape for the car.)

I made some up for my dads Cortina out of 5mm plate, had the plates laser cut and then welded on a bearing cup. just need to make sure you can convert the top of your strut to a bearing might mean machining up some top hats.
