Landwind X7?
I must admit - I quite like the look of it! Yes it's a chinese copy of an evoque but it has it's charms.
What do you reckon?

haha maybe! Only £14K too. (I say only..) Mitsubishi 2.0 (Turbo) with 190bhp too.
And! You get a rear wiper, which you don't on the evoque. Bonus.

all very well people saying they like it and would like a cheaper range rover etc, but its ripping off of western technology by china that is helping to fuck over western businesses. What the chinese cant rip off at the moment, they are trying to buy up instead as they know thier cheap labour bubble is about to burst so they need something else to sustain thier economy.
China wants to be the next world controlling super power and has learned it doesnt need military might to do so when it can bankrupt or own its rivals instead. China is a massive seat of copyright theft and coorporate espionage. They arent afraid to meddle in politics and dabble in hacking financial organisations and government either.

But surely the only places they can sell it...is countries with legal systems even worse than our own ?
ie like China, where if Range Rover try to sue them about copying their product....they'd lose.
Highly unlikely it could ever legally be sold here ?

Psycho Warren is there a chance you could possibly not ruin every thread on here with your negative, judgemental and quite frankly boarderline racist postings?

But at the same time....you could say pretty much the exact same about any country or government. They're trying to look after themselves, secure their future.
Well except for the UK maybe, the just seem intent on fucking their own citizens up the arse and stealing all their money, driving the country into the gutter and lining their own pockets...
Maybe China isnt so bad !

A hell of a lot of his posts have a racist undertone - this place needs a clearout and he needs to go first.
The most ironic thing is he probably is a fat bozz eyed loner with a serious inferiority complex. A negative parasite on this community.

in some ways you could argue its landrovers fault for building a production plant in china and expecting them to keep the commercial secrets erm secret!
IMO they shouldve expanded here and just taken the hit on import tax in china. The chinese take a quarter of all JLR sales so they arent shy on paying a bit of tax.

Capitalism gone too far.
Its one thing the chinese are great at, despite being comunists, they are great at taking advantage of the weaknesses endemic to capitalism.

and thats the problem, its all about maximising profits - despite the fact they are making plenty already.

Testing the future
when i used to work in the automotive industry i was involved in testing a couple of chinese built cars and they really were dreadful. they looked like cars but underneath they were not built like cars should be at all. there was no engineering behind the facade. if they could 3d print a car they would and then wouldn't understand why it didn't work

Thats what happens when your engineering base is based on reverse engineering rather than conceptualising and designing from the ground up. You end up lacking the engineering knowledge to get things right.
Hence why they snapped up the assets of rover - a complete package of cars to rebody suitable for the masses. The rovers were only outdated in the western world.
They have tried to copy western ballistic missile submarine technology and that ended well so paid the russians instead to help them out.

It wasnt that long ago many car manufacturers were verging on bankruptcy...so all of them need to maximise profits and minimise costs were possible...business isnt always good, so planning for years ahead is no stupid thing.

There is such a thing as greed.....
The big problem with it, is the focus change of a lot of companies where the profits are now heavily driven by the shareholders to the point that some companies in effect only treat the share holders as customers rather than the person who buys thier products. Hence the drive for market domination or monopolys, you can fuck over the consumer as much as you want as they haven't got a choice if they want your type of product.
Noone is suggesting people shouldnt make a profit, its the balance between shareholder and consumer as customers that seems to be changing the most, and that isnt related to the recession as weve had boom and bust plenty of times before without the same effect.

In the years big companies were operating at a loss...did the buying public give a fuck ?
Nope.
If I was in business....I'd be doing it for profit and I would want to maximise it.

This is true. Government at the time told us a service Britain would make more money and be better off. Looking at all the millions of unemployed who would have followed there fathers into trades makes me sad. It ruined whole community's. Its a shame but it won't ever change now I expect. Look at the Victorian builders of say like the pumping stations (saw it on a documentary) they had some money left over after building it so they decorated the entire inside. I'm babbling now but I know what I'm trying to say lol! :-(

Talking about Chinese cars, quads and bikes, from my experience of being a mechanic they are complete cheap junk. My mates chines quad and motorbike fell apart after 1500 miles the quad did! When we took it apart all the engine mounts had snapped and the wear on bearings etc was unbelievable! Certainly wouldn't ride one of the bikes after seeing that!!!!

It will end in tears for the UK if its allowed to carry on. Which sadly it will carry on.
I will laugh my arse off when the china labour bubble bursts and people here whinge that thier cheap 40" tv now costs £5000
We have totally fucked ourselves in the name of greed.
