Aluminuim thickness for header tanks and fuel tank?

Default Aluminuim thickness for header tanks and fuel tank?

Need some guidance on the gauge to use for an aluminium header tank and also for a fuel tank?

Depends how good your welding is also, as 2mm can be quite tricky to start with,

Personally I'd use thicker for an alloy fuel tank, think mine is about 4mm and my tanks are 3mm

I chose 2mm as it's fairly easy....even I can manage it LOL

But 3mm would be even easier again, I think 4mm would be excessive though.

Going thicker makes welding easier, but cutting and shaping a bit harder.

Thanks for the recommendations for gauge to be used. I can't alu weld so the welding side with be outsourced, I will be order some sheet and be cutting and shaping the piece to suit some designs I have.

Did a header tank for a friend a few months back out of 3mm, purely because the laser was already set to run 3mm lol.
