As you say prices are going up, but it varies alot tbh. A mate of mine picked up a 100% mint but completely standard one for around £5500 but then you can pick up a modded one running 300-350bhp with all the trimmings for around 4k upwards.

Comes down to what the person wanting to buy it is willing to pay more than the person selling it

prices of the good ones will go up the crap ones are still droping in price got offerd one the other month for £1500 but was not worth that IMO

Price will rise as there are less and less good ones left even the breakers are now finding it hard to find decent cars to break for spares.

Yeah I think all tere is a handfull of good ones , If you look at the Escort Cossies on the trader website they are starting at £9000 now, and you cant deny that the finest Sapphire Cossies are worth as much as the shite Escorts, so why not . I think people just automatically think "Oh its an Escort so it has just got to be worth four times as any Saff.
The reason I put this thread up was I told my cousin (benporter) that I would want ten grand for my Saff, and he said no way would any one pay ten grand for any fucking saff

Dunno Rhys mate the list of things I wanna do and Ideas I have are endless, unfortunately my money aint, the girlfriend is on about going to Los Angeles for a shopping trip!!!! in the near future and she also wants to go away to Spain as well,
So its not fair on her to be blowing all my money on the Cossie, so I was saying to Ben Porter before that I just wanna a nice standard or Stage 1 Escort Cos in white , one that needs no work done. and that I can just pootle around in,
I know this may not make sense saying Im getting an Escort but also trying to save money??????? But my reason is this ....I dont think I could ever be without a cossie but I just want a un modded one thats only gonna cost me little maintenence
. And it seems pointless in buying another Saff or De Speccing mine, and I like teh idea of saying that I have owned them both before I was even 22...Maybe a bit drastic but thats the way Im feeling at the moment......

Gutted mate! but now excatly what you mean!!! theres more to life than spending money on the cossie! To be honest if it was 5 years ago and i knew what i know now! i wouldnt have spent half as much on the cossie but gone travlling more!

I'm 20 and may have a saff before I hit 21.

Insurance will be a killer, but I don't care, love the look of the saff, would have one over the Esc Cos any day, but would have to be a 4x4 cos i'm a poof :gayflag:

Its not just the insurance but just the fact that it will never be finished. thats why I wanna call it a day and just have a nice clean escort so I can have some money to do other things as well instead of having to worry about Turbos n Blown engines etc, I mean Im not scared to spend the money but I mean where do you draw the line . Im moaning on about all this but I bet if I get it out next month I ll be back on here telling you all how wonderful life is with my saff.

i wanted 10k for my kreg smokestone 4x4 it was 400bhp and it was modded to the hills massive brakes etc i broke it and bought the es cossie

Yeah Ill try, love the rear wheel drive thing but is it realy worth the bother, dont get me wrong Rhys if I split up with the lady then the Saff will probably get the Five Star treatment again. Looking forward to meeting you at Central Day n seeing the motor, I personaly think it is the benchmark but everyone`s got there own taste

yeah everyone has got benchmark, personally at the moment trying to get mine in ship shape as i got two kerb wheels so gotta sort them out

If u break cars you can get good money! Though it has to be high spec. Personaly if u got a mint car its a shame to break it, but its up to u as ur car etc.

If i didnt get what i wanted for my car i would break it as i know i could get lots for the car in bits!

Yeah Iknow what you mean mate , mine looks gleaming but it aint got the big brakes or T34 or T4 etc... those things bump the price up in a big way.

Maybe I should just wait a bit and see how I feel when the summer kicks in properly and teh cars back out on the road, If I still feel the same then maybe I will have to get things in motion

the problem seems to be that the cars are really only a ford saphire with a trick engine and box in it, even the trim is only ghia with recaro's

but the bloody engines cost a fortune
i have spent a fortune on my engine and a fair bit on the car.....but whats it really worth, i would want £3k for the engine at least(spent double that on it 5kmiles ago) but it will never sell at that, i would want £2.5 k for the car(less engine )..but it would never sell at £15oo because without the engine and box....it is just another saphire! and personnaly i would rather keep it till it died or break it than sell it for what its valued at
The problem with breakers struggling to buy cheap cars is that most owners are now enthusiasts and are not spanner shy so are willing to strip them themselves to recoup the over zealous spending, why sell a car for £1500 when it will break at a minimum of £3k.
