Had an MG ZR TD that was pretty terrible.
Despite this, i liked it. Was really good fun to drive.
A lot of people are saying slow cars are bad cars, but they are slow models, they do fast models to, some people just prefer the more eco stuff.
The MG wasn't even that slow, it had a mafam tuning box thing on it so it went pretty well, it was just a terrible car.
- The panel gaps were all over the shop
- the boot floor was a joke, the spare wheel well had clearly been just cut out with an angle grider and had a spare wheel well from somewhere or other welded in as an afterthought.
- The dash board was so flimsy and cheap
- the seats were half fabric, half plastic that almost immediately started to crack.
- bearing in mind we're talking '04, the L series diesel was like a ford 1.8TD, all iron, really basic, sounded like a skeleton having a wank in a biscuit tin when cold, it really did clatter and averaged about 40mpg, pretty average for a lightweight car with a 2.0 turbo diesel.
- it had none vented front discs. NONE VENTED! like a mk1 fiesta 1.1L
- Rear beam was a bar that had been chopped at either end.
It really was just such a terrible car considering the competition. I bought it because it was very cheap, and i actually thought, in fact, still do think they look good. It was so cheaply made!
Looking back again the old landrovers were horrid. I know there incredible robust things and good off road but I have to have the drivers window wide open to steer the bugger! I'm smoking an old s reg vectra about at the mo and that's horrid, the y reg mondeo I had before it was one of the nicest and comfiest daily drivers I've ever had. I had a few maestros and montegos back In the day I used to love them apart from the rust. The 2.0i mg maestros were pretty rapid!
Corsa D, not that there was anything wrong with it, there was nothing right with it either. It was averagely average in a very average way a totally forgettable car. It was nothing more than a domestic appliance on wheels
a toss up between austin cambridge and s1 land rover-both utterly horrid uninspiring heaps of junk-and i"m a classic car fan-ohh and an austin a40 not far behind..
A fiat cinquecento back in 1998 as a courtesy car, think it was 900cc and shit slow, was 4 up on a motorway stuck behind a lorry at 56mph, and everytime i dared to pull out and overtake the oncoming wind slowed it down!
never had a glove box either just a bowl, my mate filled that up one night, makes a handy sick bowl!
Na that's a double h there not bad. Twin split is normal 4 gear h pattern but each gear splits twice. Sedons and fodens have them a lot. There an old box and strike fear into newer drivers lol

I'd rather that than the gate box.
Can't stand the Merc paddle box. That is bloody horrible.
By far the worst car I ever driven was a FSO Polenez ( can anyone actually remember these lol ) even tho I was young I'd not been driving long it was obvious it was a complete bag of poo
Was going to say 106 or 206 for the space issues mentioned already. Had to take my shoes off when I had to drive one.
But absolute worst ever is a Microcar, 500cc's of epic automotive porn. I people think normal crappy cars are bad, you ain't ttied anything lol. Bang it in forward and press the accelerator... Count to 5 and it'll start to pull away slowly with the wort vibration ever. Like this.. http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/310962852600
haha made me laugh I've fixed a fair few of these things as in Spain you can drive them at 14 so loads of mates had them, and Jesus are they terrible things! all made out of badly welded tubular chassis and plastic!
Any land rover defender,90,110 etc.deathtraps, uncomfortable, noisy, wandery, pitiful ,prehistoric.
When the army bought the "wolf" landrover (defender 2 striped down) every one I ever drive was wanders.
2nd gear always crunched, no matter what you did mechanically (although double de clutch or take it slow on the change).
They did go ok when you put your foot down but fuck me the wheel wobble was a nightmare. And I've never driven one with out wheel wobble on the road.
Without doubt and far worse than some of the altogether reasonable cars that have been mentioned I once drove a mate`s girlfriend`s Yugo Zastava. Just plain dangerous!
Brought it from the auction on a whim, the car wobbled and wouldn't even toe a straight line. Turns out it had been a rear end write off and had been well and truelly mangled
This is showing my age, but the worst car I've ever driven by a mile is an MG Maestro. It was the one that talked. It talked all the time telling you things you didn't need to know, and the roughness of the ride was just incredible. You felt like you were driving on the moon all the time. My dad had an MG Metro and it was ten times better than the Maestro, and it didn't talk!
Lol never knew they used to talk. What sort of things did it say?
It used to say things like 'Please fasten your seatbelt' and stuff like that. I'll have to have a trawl on the web and see if I can find more details of them. They were truly hideous cars though. It was only the MG that talked, because it was 'special'. I think the MG Montego was the same, although I always thought the Montego was a slightly (and I do mean slightly) better car.
By the way Rich, is that your Mondeo, is it the TDCI sport? What do you think about them, because I'm going to be changing mine soon and it's one of the few cars I've seen that seem to fit the bill.
Love this post! I drove a 1981 Buick Regal. 305ci V8 and it had about 100hp and weighed in at probably 3 tonnes. It also got about 10 miles to the gallon. And it was a shade of poo brown. Awful car.
Got to be the old 110 land rover, chocolate gearbox and rattled themselves to pieces. Then again had a derv astra estate as a hire car and the steering wheel never felt like it was connected in any way shape or form to the roadwheels, horrible thing.

Haha that's awesome, want a montego now lol. It's a titanium x but I've put the sport kit on it along with the wheels etc. It's brilliant, good to drive, got everything in it like sat nav, bluetooth, heated seats etc. It's only a 1.8tdci but doesn't go too bad, returns 50 mpg quite easily.

Yes, the spec is amazing on them isn't it. I'll soon be selling my ST TDCI I think, had it 7 years now but fancy a change, and the newer Mondeo would be my first choice I think due to the mileage I do. It's a job finding one with under 100k on it for a sensible price I find though!
