I've got to replace the clutch and flywheel in my mk3 mondeo st tdci. What are people's views and experience with a solid flywheel conversion? Are they any good? Can they cause problems? Or am I better off getting a genuine DMF and clutch?

i did a solid flywheel conversion a few months ago, was the cheapest one i could find on ebay, but took the chance, so far its been fine, takes a lot of punishment as i do a lot of heavy towing, sometimes way over what i should be towing (about 2.3 ton last weekend), touch wood, clutch is good, and can't tell the difference over a DMF, my car is a TDDi mk3 mondeo,
Fitted a lot of solid conversions in Mondeos, never had a comeback (touchwood). Worth it in the long run as if you fit another DMF once it starts breaking down again its just gonna fuck starters. Solid conversion good for the life of the car, a lot cheaper too!
I've heard stories of juddering clutches, snapped cranks and god knows what else!
But if companies like valeo are doing them then I can't see there being any real reason not to?

I have heard the same but like you say if companies like valeo make them, then they must be ok. I don't intend to redline it and sidestep the clutch in a derv. Lol
