Default Polycarb windows

Do the fronts work on the oe manual winders and rails or do they have to be bolted or bonded?

Cheers

If you run them on manual winders they'll scratch like fuck within a short space of time, better off with sliders on them. Or just glass if it's a road car, the gains do not warrant the pain in the ass lol.

It's a track car but also used on the road so wanted windows for security if it gets left anywhere!

I think you'll have a real problem with scratches if you have them on the roller mechanism, do you need them to actually open?

I was just thinking to stop steaming up! Was thinking a little heater matrix in the car and a roof scoop do you think that should be enough?

Cheers

As above with re: to scratches.

Ive seen options for bonded, bolted, riveted but if you real keen and want to keep a retrofit option for the OE glass you could use the mechanism to hold the polycarb in place. This would require the ploy to be cut to the same shape/size as the glass though for secure fit.

I have Lexan manual windows in my car and they haven't scratched much after about 8years maybe. Main problem is, if you wind them down on the move, the wind bends them enough that you can't get them back up properly as they come out of the runners slightly.

Really wouldn't bother, fitted these to my 205 mi16 track car, they rattle, mist up, scratch, and apart from looking the part was no weight loss over the original glass.

On my escort I would guess at about 50% reduction in weight

Mine weigh about half too. Probably less than a 10kg weight saving over all, but it all adds up when you do lots of little bits.

the weight of the glass alone is only the small part of the saving. With a fixed (plastic) window you can now strip out the window regulator, door wiring, loom wiring for windows etc etc.

Then if your race series allows, cut the door up to a bare shell and go skitzo with a hole saw and swager.

The indirect weight savings are the main benefit.
