the weight of the glass alone is only the small part of the saving. With a fixed (plastic) window you can now strip out the window regulator, door wiring, loom wiring for windows etc etc.
Then if your race series allows, cut the door up to a bare shell and go skitzo with a hole saw and swager.
The indirect weight savings are the main benefit.
