Default SORN, tax refund ?

Am I missing something here ? This DVLA system is new to us here in NI.

I want to "take my car off the road", BS, but that's what they call it. Effective at the end of this month

So if I SORN, they automatically refund for any full months left. Sounds fine. I get a refund from 01 December onwards and I've paid n full until November 30 to use the car.

So why do the scummy *******s insist the SORN will start from 01 November ? I dont see an option to change this date. Which technically would mean I do not have the remainder of this month to legally use the car ?

So basically I'm going to lose a month that I've already paid for ? If I wait until 01 December to do it, then I'll lose a refund for the month of december ?

Something is wrong there.

If they backdate the Sorn to the 1st Nov, you will have been driving a Sorn'd car for over 2 weeks.

Notify on the 30th Nov before midnight.(or does your Insurance run out before then?)

You'll still have been driving a car for 30 days on Sorn but at least you won't loose the use or refund.

so what we are seeing is that the same is happening to SORN as was with tax before new laws came in .... you tax your car on the 18 th dec will always be backdated to 1st....as with SORN now
