4 years is a long time for a lambda sensor, especially a non OEM one.

And likewise, pattern cats are often crap compared to OEM.

Was it driven hard before being tested? The cat needs to be really hot - can make the world of difference.

It could be a dozen things including either of those.

Test the sensor to see if it is working, or just replace it and test emissions

a few are listed, seems mostly wire length changes as opposed to sensor.

http://www.lambdasensor.com/main/bos...tem=0258003485

Any decent mechanic should be able to test if the sensor is responding correctly though

ok well today the mechanic i took the car too tested the car and he told me that the lambda came up faulty but than he changed the lambda for another one and went to check the emissions and co was still high.He than disconnected the air filter only just after the maf and the car went crazy. It started to act up on him for example when he grabbed the maf and move it around still connected the co either went too high or dropped a bit .He is thinking the maf is going bad.Any ideas now ?

Find a better mechanic ?

And airflow meters arent generally designed to be thrown about the place.

Has he checked the unit itself to see if it's output is sensible ?

Airflow meters and their air filter/pipework are carefully designed to promote smooth and even airflow over the sensor. If you start waving one about introducing turbulent air, then they cannot work correctly. Some will be more fussy than others.

Yes there may also be a problem with the unit, this is why rather than waving it about a proper test would be conducted.

Would the link I posted above sell abroad ?

A generic 4 wire sensor shouldnt be expensive ? Ł30-40 But really, test properly before buying.

Ahh right.

I'm not sure of any cheap reliable sources for MAF's.

Often you will find that cheap aftermarket replacements are just shite and not worth buying. You may get lucky, but it is often the case.

But again, test to see if all is well before throwing money away.

If it doesnt already say on it....could be a few makers.

But again, just have the mechanic test it before buying.
