Default Escort Van Diesel Pump Belt

Hi everyone...I need help adjusting the diesel pump belt on my 2002 Van the Haynes manual is awful for this.

I have slackened of the diesel pump pulley wheel (3 x 10mm bolts) and i have locked back the tensioner pulley.

After releasing the tensioner i either have slack on the tensioner side and not on front side or the other way round..I have been at it for hours now.

The new belt is the same as the old one (teeth counted) the pump is locked solid with a pin.

Hope you can make sense of this.

Cheers

Hi I am not shore what you are saying. I do know that when I did my belt on my van I took weeks trying to get my head around the job. Like you say the manuel is terrible to read. I read mine and read it againand again, I made shore that ever time it said parts for which engine I double checked and underlined all the parts that were relivent for me doing mine. I never started the job either till I could do it in my head. Sorry if you do not want to do this sort of thing then pay the £250 and let the guys that know these motor do it.
Sorry you are stuck now though. I can only say tht when I did the tention on my tentioner I had the aultomatic tentioner and I was surprised to find that as I tightened it to what I thought would be right it then goes lose and you can turn it and it will do it all over and over, it dose not fill tight enought bu it is. if you read and do as the manuel says after turning the engine over six turns all should be right. All the best I know how you fill been there done that sort of thing. but my van is running great now. was worth the worry.. Cheers Pete
